Southampton unveils plan for new downtown in Riverside

A completely new community would be created on the site of an old drive-in movie theater in Flanders under a planned development program unveiled Tuesday night by the Southampton Town Board.

I'm with the guy who says no new housing - fix up what you have. Get the Town to enforce its own code laws and get the drug dealers out. Do those two things and the quality of life will increase immensely. The law abiding citizens of the area have suffered long enough - throwing money/development at it is not the solution.

if you threw the drug dealers out most of flanders would be gone, the dealers wouldn't be there if there wasn't a demand!

Flanders/Riverside/Northampton is worse than Mastic, if you can believe it. Most people on LI just dont know about these communities because everyone lives up-island and are not familiar with the area and Town police have a lot control over what goes into the papers.

I've heard that before - especially the fact that the police do control the flow of information to the local press.I find it somewhat bewildering - its not like there are a lot of people living there. You would think the "usual drug suspects" would be known to all, including the police. Is it a question of they choose not to enforce rather than they can't enforce?

i dunno..this news story says riverside wants their own identiy. i'm young and in skool but they already have an identity to me and other kids..

a place for those bad drugs and bad girls who take money to do bad things.
