You are the damn liar or just an idiot. There was no contract with Ozark Border. And let's be real he is only one member of the council. Why don't you just stay quiet so we won't know what an idiot you really are. All mouth and no brains.

If he is so worried about the citizens I would think he would be more interested in saveing the citizens some money by going with Ozark Border who was going to be a little cheaper on the KWH rates
but no he was not thinking of cheaper for the citizens
he was thinking BIG MONEY FOR THE CITY
so what was a few $100,000 not like it was going to break the city KFVS said ALMOST $600,000

The total cost would be almost 700,000. Your right, that's not very much. Why don't you just pitch in the rest. Make the check out to the City of Campbell. Good grief, no vision for the future. Just like a child.

$75,000 = over charge every month since the mayor made our current electric company mad. Times that by 12 months (since our bills went up) = $900,000. This is $300,000 more, that we have paid in one freakin year. If we would've took Ozark Border's bid of $600,000 less, when we had the chance, we would've already have saved $300,000.It doesn't take a genius to figure this out, but I'm sure Hal and the Mayor will gladly give an explanation.

Why can't you people understand anything? The 65,000 per month is what we would save once pem dunk took over. It had nothing to do with the other company. They had to break the contract so the city could sell to one of the coops. My god you people on here have little or no sense at all. I don't see how you get dressed in the morning.

Sure. Pem-Dunk bid $2.5 million for the Campbell electric distribution system -- around $700,000 more than Ozark Border. Plus the city got to keep equipment worth $50,000. Plus the city got to sell our old generators for $450,000 (which has been done).

PLUS, the citizens of Campbell voted by 82% to sell the system to Pem-Dunk.

Are you paying attention here, or did you fall asleep somewhere back there?

If Ozark Border had not intentionally stood in the way preventing the immediate sale to Pem-Dunk, all your fancy numbers would not have been even necessary. Once upon a time, I had respect for Ozark Border. Their blockage of this sale by their filings with the MO PSC has changed my mind. We are paying 5 cents per KWH more (50% more) every month that Ozark Border keeps blocking the sale. Figure THAT up, and give us a little report. Why not put the "blame" where it belongs?

Hal that's not what the paper said!!! Quote "Each month this deal is delayed it costs the citizens and businesses of Campbell roughly $65,000 to $75,000 in higher costs. Does Ozark Border care about the rates you're paying and when you might get some relief?" end quote!!!!! That means that it's costing the citizens and buisnesses of Campbell roughly $65,000 to $75,000 each month and I bet it's even higher than that. When you multiply that by 12 months, it has cost this city and citizens $900,000. If we had went with Ozark Border, we would've saved 300,000 by now.. Go back and read it and get it right Hal!

I have a few things to say… Why weren’t we given the choice between Pemiscot and Ozark when the voting was held for the sale of the electric? We were left out of part of the process. We should have been given all the facts before the voting was held. If we would have been given a choice, Ozark may have won out.

Who was it that was always putting in this forum how cheap their electric bill is? This is to them, whoever they are.$30 and $40 bills a month.

I was thinking of something as I was writing this. You were always posting on here how low your electric bills are, well, I need proof. I want to see that cheap electric bill, scan it so we can see, because frankly I think you are full of it.

REGARDING THE ELECTRCITY SITUATION
Pemiscot offered $2.5 and Ozark $1.9 --$700,000 difference, with the 10% Campbell is going to get from the customers if Pemiscot wins this battle, over time the citizens will be losing in the end.

The Mayor shouldn’t have been so hasty in dropping our electric company, seems to me he caused this problem. When it comes to legal matters, it is always time consuming, and no one can predict how long anything will take.

If Ozark Border didn’t have a leg to stand on I really don’t think they would be going through all of this. I’m sure this is costing them money also. The way the Mayor talked in the letter I received from City Hall,Ozark Border is just trying to get him frustrated so he will give in to them. That’s too funny. And what is this about 4 of Campbell electric customers that live outside the city limits? That is only 4 people…Out of all this mess and he is concentrating on 4 people. I remember reading in the paper a few years back they asked to go to Ozark Border, and the Mayor and the council members denied their request.

These high electric bills didn’t just start. My electric bill has been high for a few years.

I was reading on the forum someone commented that if you lived in the city your electric bill would be even higher. NOT TRUE My daughter lives in a large city, lives in a 6 bedroom, with loft, 3 baths, family room, living room, dining room and kitchen and her electric bill runs an average of $175.00 a month. You tell me what is wrong with this picture. My point is our electric bills are out of control.

IN THE END, with all the complaining we do, it will have no bearing on the Public Service Commission’s decision.

First of all, the city had to get out of the contract with the present supplier to be able to negotiate with the different coops. So the delusional thinking that the Mayor was hasty in getting out of the contract is strickly false. As of being funny, it's funny that Ozark Border has requested a meeting with the mayor after the letter went out. Before then there was no contact with them except through attorneys. Concerning the electric rates of most cities, the rate is between 10 and 15 per killowatt hour. Honolulu being the most expensive. Also the northeast has quite high rates. It's a shame that your Mayor is trying to get the best deal for the community and it's citizens and all you do is bitch. The reason you weren't involved in picking the company is because that's what the elected officials are for. Monday morning quarterbacks are a dime a dozen. Or as it's been said, opinions are like assholes everyone has one!

First of all, Curly, I am not "Get real." Frankly, I do not care about the math. I will accept the mayor's figures, but I have no idea what the total income from Campbell's electric service is on a monthly basis.

$900,000? Okay. Just get Ozark Border off dead-center and let's get the contract awarded to Pem-Dunk. But if you want to continue beating a dead horse, go ahead.

Too bad THAT wasn't true.

The city council took the bids from the utility companies and chose what they considered to be the better bid -- meaning that Pem-Dunk offered far more for the Campbell electric distribution system than Ozark Border.

THEN, you blather on with, "You were always posting on here how low your electric bills are, well, I need proof. I want to see that cheap electric bill, scan it so we can see, because frankly I think you are full of it."

You do not need "anything." I have posted numerous times on Topix that if you want to see my utility bill, put up a significant bet and I will be more than happy to show you my electric bill and take your money, assuming you have any.

The mayor "dropped our electric company"? Are you insane? You have NO idea what you are talking about.

So your daughter lives in a big city and has a relatively low electric bill? So WHAT? There are a LOT of factors here, none of which you describe.

I congratulate you upon writing a very long post, with essentially NO significant information in it.

when and where is the town meeting to oust the mayor. He should have been out of there back when campbell still had money to operate before he cleaned this town out. But better late than later.

TO BAD WHAT ISN'T TRUE? Are you talking about the mayor dropping the electric company the city has been using. I don't know what else you would call it. He cancelled the contract with them...
What would that be called in technical terms as you are so knowledgable.

"first time here" says, "TO BAD WHAT ISN'T TRUE?"

I was speaking of YOU!

In your Post #11, you say, "I have a few things to say…."

And then you proceed for NINE paragraphs (although you did manage to say very LITTLE in a LONG-WINDED way).

It is clear that you just popped in, and somehow felt us folks needed your wisdom. We don't. Even if you HAD some.

We had that meeting 12 years ago. After discussing how much the mayor does, and how wonderful he is, we gave him a raise.
