Geist, be glad if traffic stops are the main issue, even for 1mph over the limit. I'd love to live in a town like that. Instead where I live we have murderers, rapists, and pedophiles everywhere! Crime is no joke. Do you wish that the Sedona PD had those issues on a regular basis? I don't think you do, so how about giving them some respect, instead of trying to sound like you want some higher level of crime. You sound like a punk! I'd love to meet you and take you out for a ride along in my town. You'd piss yourself and run as quickly as you could to a nice safe town like Sedona!

Let's see-your avatar says you live in Orland Park. Median income 80K. 91% white. 1 murder in the past 10 years. Even Sedona has more than that. You must be scared sh*^%less. Tell me-do you live by by the Nature Preserve or by the The Silver Lake Country Club? Listen-I have been to Chicago many times and I'm not talkin' Deerfield. I have spent time in many of the worst hell holes in this country and in areas where you wouldn't dare step outside without a loaded gun. In fact I have had guns pulled on me 3 times now and I am still here. So don't call me a punk, I doubt if you could show me anything I haven't already seen. If you are gonna have a name like RespectThem you should show a little yourself. Where do you get off calling me names on your first post to me? What are you? Some kind of internet bully who is going to try and intimidate me from behind a keyboard? Guess what. I am not intimidated. Please also notice I am not resorting to name calling.

In fact I do a lot of volunteer work (20+ hrs/week) in Sedona and when I eventually retire there I plan on volunteering with the Arizona Rangers. And you? Are you gonna spend all your time at Silver Lake Country Club?

The point I was making (and this is the joke of almost all the Sedona residents) was that the cops there just don't have a lot to do. When a car gets broken into it is front page news. Don't believe me just look at last summer's Red Rock News. I love that the town is low crime. Point is that when all you have to do is set up radar traps for tourists going 1 mile over the speed limit it's laughable and something is wrong. Most speedometers are off by more than 1 MPH but I am sure you already know that.

The Sedona police are very dedicated, honest and hard working. Some of the best police officers I have ever met. I love, respect, support and in fact given my assistance to them in the past apprehending a very bad guy. I have friends who are Sheriff's Deputies, Police Officers, City Prosecutors, ME's and a close relative who is a city Mayor, not in Sedona). Lighten up a bit and don't take yourself so seriously. I have a home in Sedona. I pay taxes there. I certainly can take a harmless poke at them once in a while. Or should you be the only one talking here Comrade?

And it's der Geist to you.

Well Geist, after more than 20 years in law enforcement IN CHICAGO, I think I've earned the privilege of living in my nice suburb. In fact, good research on your part because I live in the Silver Lake subdivision! Let me know next time your in Chicago, I'd love to show you around. Yeah you pay taxes, and it's good you do, we still have to protect and serve those who like to "have a little fun" at our expense.

You certainly have earned the right to live wherever you want and there is nothing wrong with that. As someone in LE though I am surprised that you would resort to name calling so quickly. That's one thing being in LE does not entitle you to do, in fact I think you should be setting a better example. All of my friends in LE would just shake their head and take it tongue in cheek if that. Actually I am sure that they would find it just as funny and laugh with me and probably even throw in a couple of comments of their own. That's what the LOL means, it's just a joke. It's not an indictment of LE. General statements aren't personal. Name calling makes it personal and mean spirited but I guess according to you that's OK. Tell me that you never "have a little fun" with the citizens from time to time when you are out with the crew. Have you spent any time in Sedona? Know anyone who lives there? If you do you will know exactly what I meant and why it's funny. If you don't then I don't understand what your problem is. Me-I don't worry about it because I don't speed but that's not the point. Besides- I couldn't afford the gas my truck would suck up going up and down all those hills and mountains.

It's too bad that you see things in such absolutes. I think that if you can't look at yourself and laugh sometimes-what's the point?

They have to generate money to keep a pay check coming in...they are not doing it from sales tax..
I hope property tax follows, its always been to high, I bet the cost of houses are going down big time.....
The big housing bubble wouldnt of gotten out of hand if our US dollar would of been backed by gold and silver......

Sedona cops SUCK! They are just out to make money for the town of Sedona!

All the ones I have met are rude and arrogant!
On the way home from Flag to the Verde Valley,we had to stop for one of our kids, to do a diaper change. We had stopped on my husbands gg grandfathers old land by Coffepot Rock just off 89A. This cop rolls up to us, and asks my husband "what are you doing in my town" LMAO.. We didn't even get into it with him, it was late we had two babies in the car and he was obviously board!
He had nothing to site us for!
After he got pushed his weight around he finally left! We could not believe how very rude he was!

I have friends that are nurses at Verde Valley medical center and live at Sedona, and drive over everyday. They are always getting stopped by the Sedona cops, it dose not matter what they say the cops are always rude!

Sad reflection of the type of people that have taken over Sedona!!

Cordes Lakes, Cordes Junction, Poland Junction, Spring Valley, and Mayer cops have some of the hardest core crime, violations, felonies to deal with, other than road and major highway(I-17) to deal with plus tourist safety. These local and Yavapai Co cops have to be like steel. And not magnolias. I do respect police enforcement everywhere; they are here by our domain for our protection. Let us not forget this!
