If this happened out of school, why would the school district be involved?

I am asking this since cell phones aren't allowed in school.

I think the kids still bring them into school and then just use them when no one is looking. Maybe a more strict approach to banning them is needed. Or maybe parents need to be more aware of what their CHILDREN are doing.

Things are getting out of control with our youth. They seem to be growing up way before their time. Don't they realize what they are giving up by trying to be adults when they are not? I agree with MomsKnow and parents need to be more aware of their kids are doing. This is getting to be a disturbing trend that needs nipped in the bud. And people wonder why teen pregnancy is so high? Has anyone heard of the jelly bracelets that have been banned in middle schools across the country? The different colors represent different sexual favors and the girls give them out to boys. That just seems sick to me. Last I knew middle schools consisted of 11-14 year olds. Parents, we need to talk to our kids and explain to them what we expect from them. Maybe we should let them stay with a couple of newborns for a few days and let them realize the consequences of having a baby too young. This is where all the "sexting" and sex bracelets are leading. To all of our youth being parents before they can even drive a car.

you should be in the bus parking area at the end of the day and see just how many students come out of the school talking on a phone.

Things of this magnitude are going on with our children yet here are the parents p-off bc the school is trying to enforce proper attire.
Parents need to respect the fact that school officials know all the dirty little secrets your children are pulling before, during and after school and it is for their benefit.

Are you serious? This is nothing new but what is new is all the technology exposure we think is OK for our children. This is what happens when you don;t give age appropriate things to kids. Obviously parental supervision is not enough. Ban Phones for kids. They are killing each other in their vehicles and sharing porn photos of themselves like candy. It is all appalling.

maybe parents need to start checking their children's phones to see what is on them. If they are stupid enough to pass these pictures around, then they are stupid enough not to erase them from their phones.

Why do we see the staff texting on their personal phones all day long at school? The staff are being paid for a service to be provided to our children and should be examples to the students in dress, actions and deeds. Manito staff is out of control!

Just think, the school officials were worried about torn jeans about 2 weeks ago. Minor compared to this situation.

The law is the law: Charge them.

Its no different than if a perv takes and sends them. Its the possesion of, and transmission of underage kids in sexual poses.

They should be spending their time doing something more productive and should know better too (its just common decency). Its no wonder the schools are cranking out some wonderfully good product noawadays.

PS -
Where I work, if you enter with a cell phone you must leave it at the front desk until you depart.

Whats so terrible about that?

Emergencies? Call the school and have them go get your kid and take them to the school office to talk to mom or dad. Gee, just how it worked so well back in the Old Days.

Otherwise, BAN THEM!!!~

No, it does go along with this situation. The kids are not innocent. They are exposing themselves and seeing nothing wrong with it AND the parents laugh it off like it is nothing to be concerned about.

Kids and parents need educated on the consequences and severity of this. No surprises then when the law is broken. Law officials and school administrations need to conduct an assembly. This is a growing issue and very concerning.

Maybe they need to start making phones that can only be used to call people (No web/text/photo/video...).

Better yet, make phones that can only call numbers approved by the parents.

wrong, one kid involved, the one who took the picture, the ones who recieved it can not be charged, if that were the case , kids send em to the da and the judge, how about you local pastor, then they will be charged with having porn, get real the one who originally took the picture and sent it is the only one who can be charged, everyone mass forwards at times because usually its spam jokes, get ready to have someone send you something now

I teach 9th grade and obviously cell phones are prohibited, but ever week I catch a student or two trying to sneak a quick text message during class time. I don't write it down or report it to the administration. Instead I calmly ask the student to step into the hall way and then I get my paddle out of the closet. Two or three good cracks with the paddle teaches the student the consequences of breaking the rules and insures that he/she will never bring their phone to class ever again.
you are one reason the kids continue, you should be fired, the student and phone should go to the office and the phone be taken away, I wish you would invite my child out for a paddle, you have some sort of wierd issue with spanking, grow up any child in school knows you can not paddle them if they refuse, take them to the office where a professional can take care of them and discourage the cell phone use, fines to parents work better, some kids would take that paddle from you and run it up your..... get another job it is no wonder the kids have phones in your class they know there are no real consequences
