He sounds like a great administrator -- he knows how to work the "good old boys network" and get other schools to make him an offer. And don't forget, he has figured out that he has to get on the right side of the Board.
He will have probably retired when ECC's reputation is in the dumps because he made all the cuts to the services that are very important to the reputation of the campus (I've had friends who haven't been able to finish their degree because classes keep getting cut,so they go elsewhere).

SERIOUSLY? I was at elco for only 4 semesters, and even i know she is just as bad, but not nearly as smart. She only cares about her department. She is a crony if there ever was one. fallo liked how much of a loud yes-sayer she was so much that he CREATED and ADMIN position for her. siphoning more money needed for classes for a worthless loudmouthed fallo-loving waste of space that will never have the student's best interests in mind.

Tonight Tom Fallo did the only thing he could with the heat on. He asked to have the agenda item pulled rejecting the raise offer. Ray Gen took the heat saying that it was the board's idea for this raise not the president. Maureen O'Donnell said they never discussed it when she was at a meeting and Beverly said she left early that day. Everyone knows that the board doesn't do anything without Tom Fallo telling them what, how and when. Ray Gen and Mary Combs will not be getting union support in November. Maureen rocked. We won for now but keep a watch on next month's meeting when the spotlight dims a bit. Thank you for the support on this issue. Too bad the ECC and its reputation suffered from this circus. Look like a board overhaul would be a good idea. Tax payers and community members who want to give it a go please step up we need you.

It is amazing what public pressure on this forum can accomplish. This taxpayer would like to thank all that spoke up and kept the pressure on Fallo and the board. However, keep in mind that Fallo and the board are hoping we forget about this issue and then they can award the raise at a later meeting. Let's stay on top of this matter and inform each other about their plans.

I found the entire thing frightening.Arse basically ended his report on accreditation saying he was confident we had the resources needed to deal with the curriculum issues. His report mentioned nothing about the Compton dings.Beverly, rather than ask probing questions, tried to deflect the heat from Fallo, et.al by blaming the accreditation review.Maureen was the only one who stood up to them. She is truly amazing-if you are reading this-you are the only one who deserves a chair. Problem is, the board doesn't know what to ask because they don't have the necessary background. Now it is just about defending their past positions rather than making sure we get this accreditation problem fixed. Really a mess.

He did NOT get the pay increase, at the last min. he removed it from the agenda. It was an interesting meeting, to say the least!

I attended today's Board meeting and am very glad I did. The good news: Fallo pleasantly stunned us by rejecting the pay increase. The completely unsurprising news: He was mighty smug about it. Early in the meeting, he announced that there would be time at the end of the proceedings for all those present to make their "factual and emotional comments," a condescending word choice clearly intended to belittle those who had shown up prepared to speak their minds on what had become a white-hot issue. His comment came to seem even more self-indulgent once we learned that he'd entered the room knowing he intended to reject the pay increase. The heartening news: We have at least one Board member, Maureen O'Donnell, with a heart and soul. I never thought I'd live to hear a Board member speak the words "power to the people," but she spoke them and got a well-earned round of applause, as she did at several other key moments throughout the meeting when she did her utmost to advocate for the public. I wish SHE could be our leader!

do some of you folks know how it works? have you ever been in the upper echelon of how things happen? he doesnt make the decision, the board does. theyre the ones considering it, hes just doin his job and the board decides the payraise. its not as if hes threatening them, you cant, there are checks and balances, and the board ultimately has the power and authority.
after the recent information this is definitely what happened. it is the board that has created the problem

I've always thought so highly El Camino College. Upon transferring I became even more grateful as I thought back about the dedicated professors and staff that made my stay there a very enjoyable. I learned so much at USC, but nothing beats what I have learned at El Camino. It's such a shame that experiences such as mine will become a thing of the past considering how this college being operated now.

The board has been in the president's pocket for years. He tells them what to do and they do it. He put the item in the agenda. Pres wrote: is incorrect in this particular situation. New board at ECC is needed with the exception of Maureen O'Donnell. Nate Jackson was a no show. Go to a meeting and see and then make up your own mind. The meetings are open to the public and should be broadcast. They don't want to broadcast and say they are not capable which is a lie.
