We have a major drug problem in this county and the best place for people like Weitzman is in prison not drug rehab. He needs to be kept away from our kids.

why do you make excuses for this criminal?I find it amusing how he not only is guilty but he used a minor health issue as a way to try to drag this out as long as he could. He should have just pleaded guilty and saved the tax payers some money in the process. It's amazing that the Mountain Democrat still has this guy working for them. One more nail in the coffin of the Mountain Democrat. They have no credibility.

Hopefully he will be in prison soon and we won't have to endure anymore of his shameless car advertisements or his weekly rants in the opinion pages. This man is such a feeble dits.

I have to agree about his automobile articles....basic garbage and useless information published by the mt.democrat. His political rants are shameful and biased. I think his employment with the democrat, should remain as is. It serves to show what a trash rag the democrat is, and the views of maroons it endorses.

I vote for prison for the likes of Weitzman.Look at all the damage that drugs and people like him have done to El Dorado County. His car reviews are a joke too.

How can some of you so viciously attack Larry Weitzman for his viewpoints on cars, etc! Plus, he's not a drug dealer - I have known him for over 20 years - he hasn't been convicted of anything - he represented someone in what he thought was a legitimate business deal and he didn't know all the details - and now you're going around calling him a drug dealer - which is insane because you don't even know the man.

I know him! He's a great guy, a family man - a hard worker, caring -- and yes, he's honest! It's unbelievable that just because you don't like his POV on cars (of all things!) that you would call him a drug dealer!

If you don't like him or the Mountain Democrat, why don't you do yourselves a favor and read something else - the only harm you're doing is to yourselves - all that hate is bound to affect you!

What on Earth did he think he was doing for these drug dealers??Everything I have read about his case sounds like he must have known what was going on or else he is a complete simpleton. It would be pretty easy to believe that the man is an idiot but being that he has a law degree I find it hard to believe that he is THAT stupid. His dishonest car reviews should tell you a little bit about the man's character or lack there of.Maybe you should pick your friends a little more carefully. His insult laced commentary on global warming should show you what a piece of human filth he is also.I am not a complete believer in human caused global warming and don't think that we should sign on to the kyoto agreement. The reason I don't buy into it is that there is no consensus amoung climate scientists. My point is that nobody knows for sure if it is caused by man or not including Larry. The fact that he doesn't know doesn't stop him from labeling everone that disagrees with him as idiots, morons and worse.Have you ever even read the trash that he writes. When he has no facts to back up his point of view he simply resorts to name calling. The insulting terms that I have chosen to use in my post here are ones that Larry has used over and over in his writing so I feel no guilt in using them to describe this man.

So true Doinkster. The man is a drug dealer plain and simple. He always was one to take the party way too far.Such a drunk he barely made it through law school and look at him now.Pathetic.

I miss Larry's column (that no longer appears in the Mountain Democrat).

Does his column appear in any other newspaper or on the internet?

His column usually dealt with one of two topics. He would rewrite the same thing over and over, citing the same old tainted sources. Not even worth reading. His auto column was just ad copy. When you take into consideration his ties to area drug pushers I don't feel there is any reason to have this schmuck around.

I went through three years of law school with Larry, studied for the Bar with him, and was sworn in on the same day as Larry, both of us having passed the exam on the first try when the average passing rate at that time was less than 50%. He was no dummy having graduated from UCLA and Loyola Law School, becoming an attorney at the age of 25. I kept up with him for a few years after that. I never knew Larry to do a mean, hostile or illegal act. He was the first to volunteer his notes, etc. to someone who missed class. He lent his friends money and never made anything of it if they didn't pay him back. I don't know what has happened to Larry during these many intervening years but I was shocked to read about his current situation because it did not describe the person I once knew.

Unfortunately drugs and alcohol will change a person and usually for the worse.I'm sorry for you that this was one of your friends.

To Fay:

Thanks for your response. I see you voted for prison. Assuming he is now a drug user and alcoholic, why prison? Do you know if he has been sentenced yet?

I am a personal friend of Larry's and i looked into his case. They have nothing on Larry Weitzman. When he and his attorney presented their plea of guilty, I know for a fact that the judge of this case simply stated "i don't see any crime" they have nothing on him. nothing. they also only pleaed guilty only to get out of the mess that the DA on the case created with no, zero evidence. he was simply Greg Sparrows lawyer, who is and will remain in jail like he has for the last few decades.
And in response to Sandy, he has not been sentenced, he's been left alone for over a year while the crack DA Monty scavenges for bogus evidence to use against him.
I can't believe the scum of people who post on here

You are a pathetic liar just like your friend Larry. Why would he cop a plea if it is so evident that there was no crime? If the evidence that he was facing was so "bogus" as you say then he should not have been shaking in his boots at the thought of a jury trial. You are a brainless tool.
