If you don't really know what you're talking about, then just make it up. That's the exercise being shown here.
It'll make you feel important when you have nothing else to feel important about.

Exasperated1: Ask your "reliable source" how a boss can keep them from going "clibbing" inside the county. That would be like saying that they can't grocery shop at Wal-Mart on Wednesdays. That is the reason we have a constitution and federal courts.
Quite simple:
The "Boss" gives his Deputies a choice. They can avoid drinking establishments within the County and keep their jobs, or they can be unemployed and stay home and read the Constitution. True it may be illegal to be fired for violating the policy but the "Boss" would find a different "reason" to fire them that could not be challenged in court. It's his house, his rules.

And a good reason for having that Policy, as should be apparent by the mere fact that this Thread was even put up, to begin with!

You do know that Tennessee is a right to work state so you can be fired for any reason or even without cause and it perfectly legal.

Correct!

What happens is the "Boss" makes life so miserable you just end up quitting and going to another agency. You get shit assignments, crappiest hours, extra scrutiny on your reports, making you redo work, in other words "you" really don't want to be here do you?

That's how a "Boss" in civil service gets around those technical nuisances like the civil service rules.

Oh yeah? Well, that is what Danny Doherty thought to, until he fired a girl, for no reason and she called in the State of TN on his a##! He had to pay her and about 6 more girls, because he fired them 'unlawfully'. The employers in these small towns need to open your eyes and realize that they cant just treat an employee any way they want to and get by with it. It will come back and bite them! An employer has to have reason and has to have warned the employee or he will be paying the employee for his mistake.
Yes maybe Brandon dont need to party in this town, but he is a good LE officer and we dont have many of them.

You're absolutely right, but the SO is Civil Service, so that makes it's Employees come under some protection that Non-Civil Service jobs don't have.

There had to be more to this Story that you don't know because in the State of TN., you can indeed be fired & they don't even have to have or give you a reason & that is a Fact!!!

Dont know Herman... Doherty Quick Mart in Big Sandy. No...lets get this FACT straight right now..... Danny in no way has ever shown any type of sexual harrassment or such against his employees, that I have ever seen or heard of!!! He is not that type of man!! Dannys problem is that he thinks that he can HIRE AND FIRE AT WILL! So, if Danny or Patty (another employee) dont like them, he fires them! He gives no reason, just a letter in their check or tells another employee (not considered management) to tell them that he no longer needs them. He will, most of the time, even refuse to face the employee for an explanation. He used to think this was ok and that it was legal. Well, he found out differently when he had to pay some employees for firing them 'unlawfully'. So, I dont know where the assumption that TN is a HIRE AN FIRE AT WILL STATE, comes from. I do know alittle about what it is suppose to mean, but according to the TN DEPT OF EMPLOYMENT SECURITY, an employer must let an employee know when they are doing something wrong and that employee must have been warned (not sure how many times) before an employer can 'just fire them for no reason'.

No, Sassy, you are wrong, honey! My daughter was one of those girls and I handled her case for her. Sure they can fire you, but, it is gonna cost 'em! Especially, if you press the issue, like we did.

Well, my information came from the U.S. Dept of Labor, Wage & Hourly Division in Jackson, TN. & HIS did it when they were closing their Bruceton Plant, to every Employee they laid off.
Now, that doesn't keep any Terminated Employee from filing a Civil Suit, so is that what this Girl did?
I am telling you that unless the Law has been changed unbeknownst to me, in the last few years, that is the Law in TN., according to the U.S. Labor Dept. Now, you can file for Unemployment & you will most certainly get it, even if your former Employer appeals it, but that is something entirely different.
HIS was giving Separation Notices with no reason given for the termination, which meant that you could draw your Unemploymetht Ins. with the least amount of effort possible, because they were relocating to Mexico.

In TN, other than Civil Servants, you can fire anyone without a reason or notice and this Smith guy is another wannabee on the Sheriff Dept. Mr. King likes to keep them around. IF you don't like him going to CC partying, just wait and catch him out drunk and tell him all about it.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Aquarius

If you're a typical Aquarian you're often quite idealistic and today is no exception. You're wandering around on cloud nine, especially if you're thinking about a very special someone, and indulging in all sorts of deliciously romantic daydreams. Reality? You've no time for it right now, because it will intrude too much on your fantasies.
