$25.00 per month for commission meeting. One meeting per month.
$12.50 per committee meeting. One meeting per month.
Exception, budget committee during budget process average 9 meetings, those meetings have always been recessed to count as one prolonged meeting
in pay.$12.50.
Total gross pay per commissioner,$37.50 per month. Taxes are taken from the gross pay, for example the net pay for a committee meeting per commissioner is $11.79 after social security and medicare. This information came from commissioner Sonny Hall.
Previous commission voted to pay themselves $75.00 per commission meeting and $37.50 per committee meeting and did not recess between meetings during budget process.

Thanks for that info. I have to say that will just about pay their gas expense for attending the meetings & nothing else. So, it's almost the same as doing their Public Service for free, so I have no quarrel with them over this particular issue of their pay. Plus, I think it was the right thing to do during these hard economic times. So, on this particular issue of their pay, I congratulate them for making the right decision, IMO!

Do you think they are white knights riding into the village to save us all because of 50 bucks less a month? They are not in it for the money, they're in it for the power. The power and ego of being able to screw with other people and force their will on the village. To screw with lives and livelihoods is adequate pay for power mongers who are hell bent on driving the final nail into the coffin of the county citizens dreams.

ROFLMAO@U If it was about power they would have not cut a dime and we would being paying about $3.85 per 100 in property tax to cover the almost $2 million that they cut to keep from raising taxes. An extra $113.75 burden for that single parent or senior citizen with a modest $50,000 home. an extra 203.84 for owners of a median valued home. They have shown that they are concerned about the county as a whole and willing to make the tough calls that benefit the county instead of just a few people.

It's a "Bait & Switch" game.

They will use their "hey we cut our pay and didn't raise taxes" speeches next election to attempt re-election. If the people of Benton County are foolish enough to re-elect that arrogant gang of James Peach lemmings, then its game on. They would consider re-election a mandate to take complete control of every Benton County citizen.

The County cannot afford 4 more years of Ready - FIRE - Aim politicians. The County cannot afford what they've done to it already! I'd vote them FULL Pay, to just Go Away.

The arrogant gang of James Peach? ROFLMAO@U again.... The last commissioner they appointed was the Democratic Party Chairman, I other who are die hard Democrats, and others that might not be Dems but can't stand James Peach. James Peach as much influence on the commission as you do.

They are trying not to rise taxes BECAUSE THE PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY ANYMORE TAXES!

But we will see this year when the 4 appointed commissioner come up for election and though I don't think all 4 will be elected I doubt a Good Ole Boy replaces the ones that don't.

Not impressed...I'm not sure an effort to be fiscally responsible should be classified as "bait and switch"...I do believe the desire/goal is there but they have gotten a few things wrong. In the grand scheme of things, its an entirely refreshing commission from the last one we had who, at times, I feel put personal preference in-front of county best-interests.

Some time ago reading this forum the pay for commissioners was discussed and someone put that they were paid thousands and thousands per year and held meeting after meeting to pad their pockets. Now we learn that was not true at all. This is why I try to get real information before jumping the gun on things. look what happened when people assumed.

You should have verified it back when it was first said. I feel sorry for you and all the sleepless nights you had worrying about it, now learning it was untrue. Seems you don't try to get real information before jumping the gun after all. Tisk Tisk Tisk!

And that is so common on here. There is a group Loyal to the Good Ole Boys that recent them loosing power and there are individuals with personal vendettas that condemn the entire commission no matter what they do.

You have a tendency to exaggerate, don't you? Or is it just bad memory?

Mr. Sassy why would you say I exaggerated my comment on one hand and your partner in debate agree that what was put on here previously was not true and condemn me for not looking into the matter sooner. You are saying that not impressed is ignorant as well when you call me a liar. Shooting your own teammate in the back isn't a good thing when you are both trying to manipulate the truth. It makes you both look unreasonable.

A whole lot better value than those crooked Good Ole Dems that the VOTERS ran off that voted themselves max pay to screw the county. Now they were the crooks and the bullies and that is why the PEOPLE ran them out of offices and put these new commissioners in office to clean up the mess they left.

If that is true Why did they continue to elect them for 3 terms (12 years)? What did they do to gain power? Looks to me like they done a lot with very little tax increase over 12 years. Library,Ball Park, Sewer System, Jail, Election commission building. 63cent increase in 12 years. Not bad.

They were continously elected because they were democrats and it took the people forever to realize just because you are a democrat it doesn't make you the better choice. The sewer isn't an accomplishment, neither is the jail. They caused the drain of the hospital fund. They mismanaged the ballpark funds to the point it still isn't complete and likely never will be. They put the county in the situation that now services, employees, and employee benefits had to be cut to save taxpayers from a tax increase.

Every single one of them Democrats? Did you ask all of them personally if they were? Is it because you are a democrat that you know this. How has the ball park improved? Have you seen the improvements? Looks pretty bad right now. I may have missed something. Should they have not built the jail? What would you have done differently for the jail overcrowding? What would you have told the jail inspector? Would you have let the businesses close at the interstate because they were polluting eagle creek for years? Please answer all these questions?

The Park has never been completed. The group blow over $1 Million and never completed Field 5. And through piss poor design had to rip up parts of the track. Never got a PA and had to resort to a little wooden platform for a scoring table when with as much as they spent could have build an actual box over the concession stand to house that equipment. Then through poor maintenance allowed the infields to become pools to gather water when it rained and trashed the field equipment.

As for Improvements The water pipe that had been leaking for months was finally fixed, though I don't know if the work has been done yet I know there are plans and money already spent to build the infields back up so that they won't turn into ponds when it rains, and during the season every time I was up there the park was well maintained.

First they approved the old jail which was already obsolete before it was open then because they wanted a Grand Prison procrastinated and procrastinated until the cost of this facility ending up costing as much as their original Grand Prison design. Where if they would have done this more reasonable design from the start it would have cost us alot less.
snappy wrote:

No they should have kept the original small design that was just for the interstate area and Rest Stop instead of continuing it down 641 to 192 to make others properties including that of the Mayor at the times more valuable knowing that they would never be used for business and that they weren't polluting.
