Can someone tell me if the library is closing? I heard that the state has sent the county mayor a letter concerning the closing of the library.

No one puts "the c'wag" on here I speak my mind freely and if you don't like it don't read it. Now to the subject at hand the library IS NOT CLOSING PERIOD. That said the regional library group probably with help from the majority of the library board and director trying to put a gun to the head of the taxpayers and commissioners and say if you don't give the library more money they will put services. That are to stupid to understand that we are a poor county that can't afford to fund a library that was costing us more than Rhea Library in Paris costs Paris and Henry Co. And they refuse to see that we are still fund it better than other regional libraries in the area. All it is a stunt to screw the people of Benton Co. Out of more tax money that we don't have.

I don't care who you were asking if you didn't want to hear from me you shouldn't have mentioned my name. But your question is answered your welcome. If you feel the library needs more funding fell free to go to the library and make a direct donation.

I don't even go to the library anymore. I get trying to raise money, however it just seems to be getting out of hand. The annual "fee" to borrow movies is ridiculous. Plus late charges. I have saved a ton of money NOT going anymore. I would rather go to Red Box plus much better choices. If I'm gonna pay a fee at a public "free" government institution I should be getting more for my money.

I agree; the letter I read on FB was pretty legitimate looking, despite what cwag says.....very embarassing for the county. Another good job from the great commissioners!

No what is embarassing to the county is that it let is go so far for so many years unchecked. If we would have kept the full $500,000 for the library and your property taxes when up you would be complaining about that now wouldn't you? If the Regional Board and Library Board for that matter can't see we don't have the money then they a reality check big time.

I seriously doubt you will see a commissioner on the site with a bunch of annoymous cowards. But since you asked if you go to Marathon soon after the truck delivers the Krispy Kremes are the best in town.

I heard that the state will take away 5,000+ books and over $10,000 from the library. If they do that, why would we keep it open. If they do close the doors, it would be a good building for a Twinkie store. Bet I know someone that would be there every day!

You want to blast the commissioners but yet you don't want to attend any of the meetings. A budget hearing was held before the vote on the budget took place. People do not realize how close to bankruptcy this county is. Severe cuts had to be made or else a huge tax increase. Which would you prefer? The ones who got the cuts are the ones who squeal the loudest. But you say tax increase and what what happens. Make up your mind people. In Benton County you cannot have your cake and eat it too. We are broke.

The facts are just what we expected. The county commission cut the libary funding. So they lost other funding. Now that we are no longer a regionial libary expect more cuts in funds we recieve for being a 5 star county..Thats the facts.
MEEEEE if you expect the average working men and women in this county to attend they need to have Sat. meetings.People with jobs and families can not spend all night at the courthouse.Older folks can not see to safely drive at night.
