Whats the big deal, 50 thousand is not a lot of money these days, this is not the 70's. If you do a job description comparison, you will find out that these positions are still underpaid. That is why there is still a lot of city professionals leaving for the same job somewhere else that pays more....

These salaries listed are way out of line for the job titles. A city the size of Columbia does not require half a million dollars to operate, especially the way this one is operated. Just a waste of taxpayers money!!!

I agree and am glad this information is finally available to the voters. I still think it would be worth the investment to have an accounting firm to evaluate where the spending is out of line and possible abuse of funds. If the city can afford salaries like this then it should not be difficult to afford an Accounting Firm. You have to wonder with all the other emphasis on different areas, what is being undisclosed? I think citizens might be surprised where this money is going and it is probably not just on salaries.

THIS IS WHY THEY TRY TO TAKE OUR COST OF LIVING RAISE. AND THE RAISE IS NEXT TO NOTHING. ALSO WE CAN'T GET MORE THAN 2 PERCENT ON OUR EVALUATIONS. AND WHERE DO THEY GET OFF THINKING THAT WE NEED FOUR ASSISTAND CITY MANAGERS? MAINTENANCE WORKERS ARE THE PEOPLE THAT REALLY KEEP THE CITY RUNNING. AND THEY DON'T MAKE ENOUGH. AND WHO IS THERE TO STAND UP FOR US. NOT THE ONES THAT'S MAKING THE BIG BUCKS!!

Amazing - time for City Manager Austin to do a reality check on what the actual jobs of the people are in the City. I know some of these people and what they do/don't do. Some salaries are in check and some are not. And take the municipal court - who haven't had evaluations/raises in 5 years....when will City Council wake up and investigate these salaries and practices? City employees are too scared to stand up for fear of retaliation. No amount of complaints, etc., will come of anything. Austin will not take a stand, City Council will follow his lead and it's a never ending cycle. Better yet, why doesn't the media investigate?

jank off....50,000 per year is alot of money if you know how to live within your means. NO $200,000 home, NO $45,000 truck. a man that lives a simple life can live pretty damn good on 50K. but your probably just one of the "keep up with the jones" kind of fellow.

As a New York native, I had to laugh at what people down here consider high pay. The taxes in New York are sky high to pay for teachers who make upwards of $85,000 yearly, plus benefits and sanitation workers who, when we left NY ten years ago were earning $60,000 per year, plus benefits. Not bad for emptying garbage cans!

The cost of living is much higher in NY and salaries would match that standard.

How can a secretary get over $100K a year?? There is money in typing and using a computer. Oh well, just raise the water rates and give them ALL another raise. Who cares anyway? A few deserve what they make and many do deserve a raise compared to their idiot supervisors making over $100 thousand a year.

YOU should care, you are paying these offensive salaries, while the people who are actually performing much needed services can barely get a raise.

Kind of sad--the most important people are the Police and the City does not pay them enough to keep them, they leave and go to other departments.
