I heard yesterday that the board of education didn't make any changes in the baseball coaches for 2013 after that embarrassment from last year. How can that be true?Camden will be the laughing stalk of the league again this year.Yet another poor decision from our BOE. So sad for those young men that they can't start with a clean slate.

Don't you know it's the "good ole boys network" alive and well? By clean slate I'd include the young men who chose to participate in the inappropriate behavior...don't tell me or give me the "they're just kids" excuse. Kids are not being held accountable for their lack of wisdom in decision making. Yes, at times it because they've had a lack of guidance and role modeling done by their parents; however, every one has a "free will" and a brain. As parents and grandparents used to tell their children, "if you're going to dance, be prepared to pay the fiddler." Two wrongs do not make a right so if the young men want to party and drink, etc., be prepared to lose your spot on the "team."

It's too bad the BOE didn't replace the coaches who did NOT do their proper supervising of the team while away. Many of us thought it might be a "lesson learned." Obviously, lesson failed is a better description.

as a parent of one who did not participate in the b.s. well if this is true i am angry..i was outright lied to about the supervision on the trip..the trip was $ spent out of my pocket for a not very fun trip for my son due to the negligence of the schools trust in those in charge,,with lots of rumors and b.s. that went on for some of those who made the wiser choice..the school did nothing about that either.sad sad

At the very least they should drop the varsity coaches down to JV and move the JV coach to varsity. I think JV had an outstanding season last year. Plus he is in it for the right reasons . Not just to coach every sport for a pay increase. BOE is opening a can of worms

You know who the JV coach is ...... He's in it because he loves baseball and loves to win. It's simple. It's not an extra income for him. He has the Passion for the game.

This needs to stop. It's over, this happened back in April, and it's been dealt with. I'm sorry it didn't go your way, but the students responsible were punished as they could be, and the adults have noticed what's going on. It's time to leave them in peace, you know the trip probably won't happen again, let these people live their lives.

This has nothing to do with the students. I agree they have already been punished . Unfortunately they are the only ones that have been. If they stop going its just going to validate my point. Cover it up and it will go away? I don't think so.

no one on here has a complaint about the students involved..and yes the were punished..we expected some more changes so the students can go again in the future..some adults involved with this trip did not handle their responsibilities to all our kids in a manner to prevent this from happening in the first place...nothing was done about that..its not that we want heads to roll..we just want to feel like our kids are safe..i currently dread baseball season,,i would like to feel ok with no changes but guess what,,i dont,,i dont want to hurt anyone involved..i just dont feel the school did the right thing in all areas of this tragic end of baseball team last year..a change WOULD BE NICE

You're asking for good men to be severely punished for something you 1. may not know all the details about and 2. they couldn't possibly have full control over. Yes maybe they should have checked on the players a bit more, but did these adults supply the players with the illegal items? No. They were cleared of wrong doing that would result in more severe punishments. We may not know it but something could have been done. The school district doesn't like to announce their decisions or make it well known. Let these people be. I'm glad you are concerned about what happened, but look forward to the season positively, not with a grudge or negativity.

Severely punished? Dropping down to JV is severely punished after getting paid to coach a season that didn't happen? Maybe you don't know all the details. The public has more information than you think. Plain truth is nothing was done at all. Lots of talk about it around our town and others. It's not right that our school will be laughed at all season long.

no we dont have to drop it..thats what this site is about..some of us are concerned about our kids..some of us do know more about this issue than you may think we do..new season will start in just a few months and i for one am concerned, and i should be. so if some simple minded f!@@##$$ is upset about that dont read it and let us who are rightfully unhappy with no changes made discuss it as we choose to..the events that took place down there were not that well hidden..the kids who did nothing wrong were good kids who paid a huge price for others wrongs, and in more ways than one. a simple change for a while is not a severe punishment.. our kids deserve a change and us parents deserve to feel our kids are in safe hands

All the parents feel the same way but dont want to go to meeting and voice opinion for fear of their kid suffering. Everyone knows thats exactly what would happen. Its the topic of conversation in stores and gas pumps all over town.Maybe a super secret parent meeting to voice opinions.God knows everyone in Camden can keep a secret.Thank god for topix so we can voice our opinion anonymously.Maybe someone that matters will read it.

To "concerned" you have got to be kidding using the phrase "good men"...check out their sobriety...their morales...their work ethics...confusing their behavior with the word "good" is totally brainless...

i could care less what they do on their own time.what matters to me is what they do on the field.look at the records.......... have had plenty of years to prove themselves and have not. lots of losses and controversy year after year. time for a change, they need to go! time for the school to do the right thing.

If I were a parent I would be more concerned about all the drugs the kids are doing. There is nothing to do in Camden for most kids and they are getting into bad habits and failing in school. Quit worrying about the coaches they have gone on with their lives and have done something positive. Worry about kids finishing school and being productive.

sports and school activities are helpful in keeping kids away from drugs and negative activities..good coaches and leaders for these things are a necessary need for them to be successful for all our kids.last years events have given us reason to worry and feel the need for a change for the sake of these kids...we need coaches with proper morals..leaders these kids can respect and look up to..not someone we would rather they wouldnt look up to..
