Neighborhood cameras in Elizabeth City help deter crime

Elizabeth City Police have arrested a 16-year-old for a crime they saw him commit on video.

I hate to think that we have to have spying eyes in our neighborhoods but I guess in some areas it is all that is left to assist with the problems. Identify and put them away.

Keep the camera's rolling! I strongly believe that the effectiveness of a network of cameras and video will deter criminal activities dramatically. If they know the camera's are out there and watching 24/7, they'll have no where to hide and we can clean up the streets of these dirtbags.

Do these petty criminals honestly think they can get away with their crimes anymore? Most crimes are out of sheer stupidity or drugs; an ill-informed decision that results in disaster. These camera's are a gateway to safer streets and will keep criminals on their toes, and they will finally know that "Someone is always watching."

I'm glad that cameras are helping. It would be nice to have a full array of cameras in town, initially deployed around the higher crime areas of Elizabeth City. For me it is worrysome that this shooting was only a few blocks away from an elementary school.
