Lincolnville taxes more than doubled last year. This year they went up another 10 to 20%. And to top it off Lincolnville wants to expand their town office, expand their fire department and build a new building for them and they want to expand their police department and of course they will need a new building also. It's not all about the schools, though that is the easy out to play the blame game.
Let us not forget that they also sold all stocks having to do with the phone company rather than keep them for future revenue and allow them to accumulate more value.
The Town of Lincolnville is not the friendly small town it once was. It is now being run on greed and the local people can no longer afford to live there or own property there. There was once a day when Lincolnville was a farming community, but with the huge taxes farmers are being forced to shut down and sell, and when they plea with the selectmen not to raise their taxes to unaffordable levels they are ignored.
Our family used to own 2 properties in Lincolnville since the 1950's, but we have been forced to sell one and are now considering selling the remaining piece because of these rediculous ever-increasing taxes.
