My parents sold the Greens in the late seventies.
It's hard for people under the age of 45 years old to remember tne good old days. |
|
Read my name. Over and over and over and over again. Then read it one more time.

The Greens is still smoldering.

I lived on the 3rd floor of the Greens in the early 90's. It was a scarry place to live...not only due to Worthington and friends...but due to being on the 3rd floor of a tinder box. The bar was always fun. I look back on the Greens and Edinboro with fond memories.

Who is Worthington? I'm not down with the history of the Hotel, but I see alot of people talk about this "Worthington" character

Hey James, What was the Third Floor Like? Were the honey bees still the in the room that was in the northeast corner of the building. That was the kitchen years ago. |
|
Worthington is the ghost that used to run the Greens. He was a nice fellow if you asked him to be. But scared the hell out of me! I also lived on the third floor before.
I'm the son. |

My buddy took me there about 14 years ago (as far as I can remember, it's been awhile) when I was home on leave from the Marine Corps. As a young Marine I must say that I appreciated the seediness of the Evergreen as a strip joint. It had a surreal quality that is hard to find, and the girls were a lot of fun. Just walking through the place was kind of trippy.
I didn't have sex with any of them (no need to, I met many at Edinboro parties), but we had a great time hanging out there one night on the porch smoking Cuban cigars and drinking Wild Turkey. It's one of my favorite memories. I've been all around the world and strip joints like the Evergreen were always the best. The very best Erie ever had was Kandyland Dinner Theatre At. 2AM they served pancakes to customers to use the "dinner theater" loophole that existed at the time. I never ate the pancakes, but thought it was pretty funny. I remember couple of McDowell chicks stripped there and they were hot. The place was BYOB and the women were wild, what more could you ask for? Seriously, Kandyland was the most fun strip joint there ever was, and Erie ruined it. If you don't know about Kandyland, google "kandyland supreme court". Sadly, Erie is famous for one thing, screwing up the entire strip club industry. Those were truly the good ol' days in Erie adult entertainment. Fairwell Evergreen and Kandyland, I salute you! |

Too bad this place is gone, I had always hoped it would be fixed up some day....so much history. The front door entrance still had Kerr Hotel on the floor. The porch was great! I wish I would have been able to see the whole place, not just the bar area. If anyone has any pictures of the place from years ago, I would love to see them!

I actually spend a good portion of Labor Day afternoon there two years ago, we were driving by and realized that the place was open and stopped in for a couple. Ron, I coached Scott and Wes, sorry for your loss.

Norm,
I'd like to hear more...we both went to General McLane and graduated in the 70's. Email me at wag2200@velocity.net if you want. RS |

My husband and I stopped to look at the ruins a couple weeks ago. Amazingly, a deck of some sorts still stands at the back. How could that have survived such a blaze?
