My friends deserved to have a full life not a name on the wall. I would rather have the US government admit that they lied us into that war and reinburse the Vietnamese and each soldiers family that suffered! They must admit that they used a massive lie of the Gulf of Tonkin to drag us into the war just like this Iraq war was started by lies. How come no big shots who caused these wars ever pays for it? It's like making Charles Manson a millionaire for being a mass murderer. I guess when you commit mass murder for the benefit of corporate wealth it is not a crime in America?

I see that the Bitter and Jaded brothers paid us another visit again. You both must have a lot of stuff you can cut and paste into the message boards. How about some new material for a change.

It's very sad! |

Let's start an Iraq wall. That will make it all better! What not stop the war prosecute the criminals who started the war on lies and move on.

All the names on that wall deserved so much more than a spot where super patriots and chickenhawks can proclaim that each and everyone was a hero. They deserved to have their service used in an actual defense of our freedoms, not a trumped up lie like "promoting democracy." While the French fought after WWII to reimpose their will on the Vietnamese people, the nationalists led by Ho Chi Minh sought to rid their homeland of foreign domination, for the first time in many centuries. World powers had agreed to a reunification vote in 1956 which would unite all Vietnam under Vietnamese leadership. We underwrote the French costs of fighting the VietMinh and when the French were routed we backed the Pro-colonial holdovers in denying the VietNamese their free elections. My friends on that wall did not die for your freedoms. They died because they and the American public were duped, just as we were about Iraq. And they would care not if people are making tracings of their names off that wall. They want to be here now. Sharing a long marriage, watching their children grow and going to their Grandkids school plays. They are victims of military and political power run amok. As are the over 4,000 brave troops who have already died in Iraq as well as several hundred thousand Iraqis. |
Your friends did not die for my freedoms? Do they know that? Did they believe that? Shame on you RT, you are a disgrace with your holier-than-thou attitude. Our troops have more courage and bravery and honesty than you ever did or will have. You screw them daily in your posts and then pat yourself on the back for--what is it you libs like to say--speaking truth to power? You, John Kerry and the rest of your ilk are nothing but cowards who hide behind the "we served" so you can't touch us argument. Bullshi* you self-righteous, arrogant, poser. :) citi |

Go get some therapy for your guilt.
Don't lay it at the foot of the valiant soldiers who died and who still serve. :) citi |

As much as I don't want to talk back to a Pekingese I can't let this go.
I fought with hundreds of young American soldiers in VietNam. About 2 dozen of them have their names etched on that wall. All the ones I was close to and talked with, recognized the lies that sent us there. We continued to fight, for self preservation and to protect each other. What were our options? We did not fancy our self heroes nor did we believe that if we lost the Vietnamese would start laying sapper charges on Main Street USA. While we did what we had to do, Cheney, Bush and others, while supporting us with mere words, were nowhere to be seen. They just allowed the meat grinder to continue turning while they sported lapel pins and waved flags. Don't you ever tell me what those brave men were thinking when their blood seeped into VietNamese soil. I listened to their sobs and their words. I cried with them as their dreams were shattered and stolen. I cursed the liars as I watched their broken bodies dusted off to make thier last flight home. I vowed to them that I would always fight against the warmongers, however incessant their yapping. |
hi citigirl, i believe that all city people have lot lots more education than people in the farm but then would the most intelligent city person knows every thing? have you ran across these simple things from pinky? And while you were vowing to fight against war-mongers did you tell them that you were going to turn their sacrifices into shi* by reducing their service to nothing but left over guilt and anger? Did you mention to them that your words about their glorious service were going to include tearing down the fiber and fabric of the great nation that they served and died for. Do you think they'd be proud to know that you hate and distrust this country and this government. That's the mockery you make of them RT-you tell all who will listen that they served and died--IN VAIN! Your posts aren't about them..they are about YOU! Your guilt, your anger, your service, YOUR self-righteous misplaced sense of loyalty to...what? Don't you ever try to tell me to shut up and to NOT support these men and women any way I can. I will YAP and YAP and YAP at you as long as you're here. :) citi |

And you big friggin' coward..you can't even admit that you boycotted me and now, once again, you're deigning to respond. Of course it's to tell your self-serving, self-absorbed, self-righteous story!

Do you know what happened when the VC took over the South(VN)? Have you ever heard of "Re-education" camps? Hundred of thousands died in those camps? Have you ever heard of "Relocation" to New Economic Zone? Hundred of thousand lost their homes because they were businesses of the South and wealhty? Have you ever heard of the Viet's Boat People? Why 3 million Viet scatter all over the world after the communist took over 33 years ago? And thousands, even millions, died at sea looking for freedom, freedom from communism? Communist destroyed Democracy and destroyed VN. I thank the soldiers on the wall for their great effort in bringing Democracy to VN. Too bad South VN can't be like South Korea. |

RT, I understand what you're saying, and I appreciate it. My Dad and Step-Dad were next to you fighting in Vietnam. Neither one of them has ever said a word of their time in Vietnam, so your words have a lot of meaning to me in regards to that. You said it best yourself in that post, "We continued to fight, for self preservation and to protect each other. What were our options?"
Now think of the kids fighting in Iraq, they are in the same boat. Smed refers to them as "war criminals," but they are doing exactly what you and your brothers in arms did then. It is for that very reason that we need to back the troops. Whether you agree with what we are doing or not, every American needs to support our troops. When we get out of Iraq, and I hope that happens sooner rather than later, the troops need flag wavers and marching bands to greet them, not bitter Americans. That is a lesson we learned from Vietnam. Many lessons are written in blood, this shouldn't be one. I personally support our mission, defeating terrorists. I know you believe Iraq has nothing to do with that. We don't see the big picture, maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. That point is moot now. I don't like every aspect of what we are doing, but my support is behind every American taking part in what we are doing, and regardless of what course our government takes, that will never change. Let's all just hope that in another 30 or 40 years, we aren't having this conversation again regarding some other BFE. |

The Real Truths,
Also, Ho Chi Minh was not a nationalist, he was a communist. Do you know that VN(or North VN) also has a Cultural Revolution? From 1954 to 1956, it's called Land Reform, implimented by Ho. Do you that hundred of thousands died during the span? Do you know, because of the Land Reform, millions of people migrated South to get away from communism? |

I know exactly what happened after the French then the US fanned the flames of hatred for over twenty years. Had the elections slated for 1956 been allowed to go forward the story would have had a much different ending. Again, even if those on the wall did believe that the fight was to defend the US the fact remains, NOTHING good came from that war. If the mission of the US was so dam noble, why the lies? |
Are you auditioning to replace Jeremiah Wright by any chance RT? You're doing a damn fine job of the GD America speech... Who said it, RT or Wright: America's Chickennnnnns are coming home to roost! :) citi |
|
Way to respect those who fought for the freedom you're enjoying right now.... |
|
Ho Chi Minh was a communist from the start, before WWII. Because of Viet Minh "victory" over Japan and victory over the French, Ho popularity sky rocket. He knew this, and of course, he supported the election. Do you think that after the election, if any and he won, Ho would still support Democracy? Communist supporting Democracy??? LOL. Looking at VN right now, THERE IS NO DEMOCRACY!!! |
|
|
Come to think of it RT, weren't you the one who was telling everyone that you were 'researching' Wright and that we needed to have some 'context'?
Is this the same type of context you're trying to provide here? Making it worse my boy, much worse... :) citi |
