Isn't this what NPTI and CAMtech tried to do? If memory serves me right, I believe the taxpayer price tag on this combined fiasco was $16 million. Again, what --specifically -- are those skills needed by industry?

It's amazing how much paid consultants will tell you what you want to hear. Erie County will continue to pay the costs of this sham long after DiVecchio is gone. Shame, shame on pet projects without merit.

From the moment this story hit the papers months ago, I said the biggest winners would be Gannon and Mercyhurst, but particularly Behrend and Edinboro. This plan will funnel tax dollars directly into each respective schools' coffers to the tune of millions each year. But there is very little public outcry so the taxpayer will foot the bill. Apathy abounds.

I continue to note that Butler County Community College went to the pizza man county exec and offered to set up a community college center just as they have done in several other locations, and the cost to the county was ZERO! The pizza man said no thanks, and with William Garvey, the disgraced former president of mercyhurst college at his side, the pizza man has been burning through at least 100 Gs with consultants, and will build some sort of CC to follow in the footsteps of the two previous failed community colleges in Erie, with the same results.

The county exec and county council are being so stupid about this, it makes my head hurt. But they will create lots of faculty and administrative positions to take care of their pals.
