Police notification needed for rallies

There is nothing more democratic than anti-war demonstrators and defenders of the Iraq war gathering to air their views.

One would hope that the instigators (the Swartouts) of the fracas at the 'Tuesday at Two' peace rally would also need a permit to continue their modus operandi of "stalking, confrontation, and intimidation".

In point of fact there would have been no fracas if the Swartouts had NOT stalked, confronted, AND intimidated the students at the 'Tuesday at Two' peace rally.

Indeed, it was the Swartout family who crossed the street to confront and intimidate the students - including Jason Swarout intimidating and PHYSICALLY THREATENING a disabled protester in a WHEELCHAIR![Which is clearly documented on video!]

The Swartouts have a track record of such behaviour that can be documented by literally HUNDREDS of persons who have been victim of their abuse!

Let's put the blame where it rightly belongs - on the Swartouts.

To be sure, the students involved - who reacted to protect the man in a WHEELCHAIR, were not up-to-speed on non-violent protest... the standard by which all such events must abide!

Be that as it may, it was the Swartouts who aggressively stalked, confronted, and intimidated the 'Tuesday at Two' peace rally!

Their actions not only warrant a 'permit', but also an investigation for "CHILD ENDANGERMENT'!

As I wrote in another thread, what's happened to our U.S. Constitution and 1st Amendment? It includes the rights to free speech and assembly.

I agree that police notification is a good idea, but I strongly resent the idea that the problem is shared by both sides.
To the best of my knowledge, these people have never held an event just to express their support of the war. If they had done so, they would have been able to do so without peace activists coming there to harass, provoke, and distress them.
You need to understand something. The Swartouts are part of a national group called Gathering of Eagles, whose whole point seems to be to harass and stalk peace events. Their officially stated purpose sounds laudable enough—to protect war memorials and protect veterans and soldiers from slander. But in reality, it is the Swartouts and their Gathering of Eagles comrades who can be counted on to target antiwar vets and active duty servicemebers “Traitors,”“Terrorists,”“scum” and other very vile and unprintable names simply because they oppose this endless, rotten war.
In the bad old days, domestic abuse was seen as a problem shared by the couple, rather than one that was owned by the abuser. Peace activists do not share the blame. They have tried and tried and tried to avoid this hateful family.
Please do not blame the victim in this case. Peace activists have tolerated the Swartouts and their provocations and threats for over two years without incident, while the Meadville police did nothing, or at least felt they were able to do nothing. The garbage journalism of the Meadville Tribune elevated the psychotic Swartouts to the status of patriotic heroes, with one of their reporters—Penni Schaefer—participated in demos with these Fred Phelps wannabe’s and then turned in highly biased reports favoring the Swartout hate clan. It is no wonder that when they entered Erie County they thought they could get away with anything.

When this comes to court in Erie County the Swartout clan will face jail time and no doubt will get it. The documentation on their actions is overwhelming with much of it comming from their own blogs and You Tube sights. They have taken down some of their most hateful videos but it is to late because copies were made. These people are really sick but the law will put a stop to them.

On which charge? Summary offense-yes, unless there is a habit or pattern. Child protection can look at anything to consider the best interest of the child. Look at the PA Rules of Civil and Criminal Procedure, and the PA Statutes, and the PA Code, etc.
