The Swartout kid is a delinquent and should be removed by Children and Youth Services. The county sheriff should revoke Swartout's concealed weapons permit.

These people are dangerous and I would be cautious with them. One doesn't know their next move. It could be violent. The boy seems intelligent but misled. He only wants to support his parents which is undestandable. He shouldn't bad mouth veterans and people who have been through things that he doesn't know. This is just his immaturity.

I think the Swartouts and the girl in the white dress are equally dangerous. How sad that both sides believe they are doing what is right and good when, in reality, the harm they do to themselves and their cause is identical. It's people like this, on both sides, who give an entire group a black eye.

I'd have to say everyone involved here is a socially retarded miscreant. Perhaps their time would be better spent reading a book AT SCHOOL or working AT A JOB.

Yes, violence is always a possibility with these people so one must be very careful around them because they are so full of hate that anything is possible.
The 14 year old kid is to be pitied because he has been brainwashed and filled with hate all his life. He does seem bright enough but has been programmed to hate so much that he really has little chance to ever have a normal life. I really feel sorry for him.

Another example of so-called "peaceful" anti-American war protesters who preach peace and tolerance but physically attack anyone who disagrees. Hypocrites one and all. This whole situation started when Mrs. Swartouts was peacefully demonstrating the Women In Black in the public diamond in Meadville and a "peaceful" war protester told her children that their father was a baby killer. No wonder the son is angry. These protesters need to get a job and contribute to society instead of whining. What does a teenage college student know about life anyway?

This is ridiculous. They make the Swartout family look as though they don't deserve blame. Did you know they seek out peace rallies just to cause problems, they caused an 82 year old women to get arrested, they left their children crying across the street unattended until the police arrived, they're known amongst different peace organizations as "The Family" and are compared to the manson family. They're children are home schooled so making a half hour forty five minute drive to harass those trying to promote peace and consider it a field trip for their education. And why was the address of those charged printed? This seems like it breaks some kind of privacy policy or atleast a code of ethic in journalism. I will leave you to think about this because I am so enraged I could write a novel on how corrupt this family is.

Also for the one who says get a job, this was a project set up for a college course so maybe you should get an education.

You could spend some time not being ignorant. This was a project for a class. hence the fact that it was two blocks away from the edinboro university campus.

Open your mind instead of being a narrow minded ignorant person. And i was not aware someone in their twenties was still a teenager. And they were defending themselves if you were to see the film recorded by the peaceful protesters you would see the swartout family unjustly attack a 21 and 23 year old woman who were representing they're university for a class project and they both work while attending school full time fully paying for their own education. Open your eyes and smell the coffee, Swartout is to blame.

Here's another example of how the ETN twists a story to fit the views of it's staff. This article made the Swartouts seem criminally responsible for defending themselves against the monsters who were at the "peace rally". Last time I checked, it was totally within my right to defend myself from an unprovoked attack. This article practically made the attackers seem blameless.

What the fledgling anti-war movement doesn't get is that - unlike them - almost all Americans support the troops. It is in instances like the one in Edinboro that makes most people hate anti-war protestors.

Shame on them for hating this country so much.

at 0:31 in the video, Mrs. Swartout escalates the situation by shoving Alyssa, then throwing punches at Andria.

Mr. Swartout has serious problems, trying to instigate a disabled veteran and bowing up to a girl..Someone get that man some therapy...

Quite a bit more then you, obviously. I think the right to assemble is pretty cut and dry..You sound insecure about these intelligent girls balancing school and social uplift..Maybe you could learn something..

Wow..What courage! Let's see, he's taken on a pair of octogenarians, a couple of college girls and a guy in a wheelchair. Truely not a shining example of our military men and women. Isn't there a uniform code of conduct????

Actually the video that the peaceful protesters have shows the family attacking the protesters first after the took the mans sign and told them to leave. And this is not the first time they have caused problems. They dont hate this country, we hate people like you who think you are intelligent before getting the facts.

Also another thing Kristen, peace rallies are for promoting peace on all aspects not just for the want to end the war.

Again, I must defend the Women in Black. The "peacful war protester" who approached Mrs. Swartout is one of the kindest persons I know. She did not call Mr. Swartout a baby killer. She offered literature regarding the use of nerve gases in Iraq and the possible affects those chemical would have on future children. She knows she shouldn't have done that, she has apologized. Mrs. Swartout stood with heer children in silent protest of the Women in Black. We respected her and did not approach her because her husband was serving in Iraq.
The WIB meet every Saturday to stand in silent vigile in respect for Pennsylvania Service People who have lost their lives in Iraq. There is a white flag with a golden star for each of these fallen heroes. They have also always stood, with anti war signs in silent protest.
More than a year of this went on before the anger began. Other individuals and groups began to appear at Diamond Park and the silence became shattered by loud music blared from amps in vehiles and angry voices shouting obsentities and worse, by residents who felt the need to push their opinions and their faces in the faces of the WIB. At some point, the WIB decided to move to a different location each week in order to avoid confrontation. This didn't work because the Swartout family, now reinforced by the veteran himself, choose not to use the Park that we relinquished to them to hold their own rally, but instead, to travel around Crawford County looking for the vigil and then reporting to their followers where to go to "defend" America.
Now, you can paint this any way you want, but the truth is, the Women in Black do not seek to do a thing, but let the community know we mourn each and every hero who gave their life for this war. Perhaps, and I am just guessing, the sight of nearly 200 flags makes some people un-easy and they don't want to think about the human cost of this insane military action.
We are not repeating the disrespect of the 60's. All of us in the WIB have been personally touched by the VietNam War and we don't want our soldiers to be treated as war criminals ever again. But we have a right to protest those human losses, both fatal and dis-abling. And we have a right to mourn the dead.
