To the Steward family...maybe if your daughter hadn't been hung over from being drunk, the kids wouldn't have died. The D.A. isn't making it personal, he's doing his job. You daughter needs to accept responsibility for her actions...or lack of...in these deaths. She was passed out from being hung over....2 kids she was supposed to be watching drowned because she couldn't do her job. She needs to pay for her crime!

This result was decided when the DA got a new hearing. No surprise that Ms. Strohmeyer "rubber-stamped" the DA's case. I wonder what would have happened if the DA had to take the case in front of another independent thinker like Mr. Dwyer. Would they have asked for another hearing after that? I guess this is what they call "justice."

They could have taken to anyone but Dwyer because he heard the first argument. but i dont know with the new information if it would have changed his opinion.

For one what kind of parenting is it that your 19 year old is out all night drinking like she was????19???? Also Mrs. Kovski should of know better to leave her child. I have two children myself. I wouldn't ever left my child there and I would of taken Jenna with me also. If you have to ask that many times if she was ok Mrs. Kovski knew at that point in time there was a problem.I think ALL parties are to blame in this case. I don't think it should be put all on this girl. How about the parents getting charged with endangering the welfare of their own children.

No, Brittany did not tell anyone that she was drunk; however, it does make you wonder about both parents especially Mrs. Kovski. I think she should have thought twice when she found the babysitter sleeping on the couch given the fact that the babysitter is, indeed, a teenager - A very irresponsible teenager from what I have read. I would not have left those children in her care, especially if one of the children was capable of opening doors. This is not hindsight. It is plain common sense. Anyone that spends a considerate amount of time around young children knows what they are capable of doing. You have to be vigilant with them, and it would only seem logical that you would want the babysitter to be vigilant as well. Sleeping on the couch while you are supposed to be babysitting is a sign of grave irresponsible behavior. I would not have left the children with her because she was sleeping on the couch as this implies that she, most likely, will not take care of the children. It makes me wonder how many other times that this girl watched Jenna or both girls and left them unattended, thinking no one would find out. It was pure luck that nothing happened before this. It is tragic that her luck finally ran out. Donny Baker wrote: <quoted text> Maybe it's just me, but if one stays out that late drinking, the smell is around for a while..... Depends on what you're drinking, beer, yes but if she was drinking say Vodka, nope, you cannot smell that. I feel the charges should be the same as someone who "involantarily" kills someone in a car accident. For example: Someone who is just TIRED gets behind a wheel and drives 2 toddlers around, crashes and kills them, same scenario really... As for the mothers being responsible, nope, unless they KNEW she had been out late with no sleep. Yes she said she was "just tired" but assured the one mother that she would be fine. Alot of people are tired at that time of the morning. Did Brittany actually come out and say to the moms "I have been out all night long and haven't had any sleep"???? My guess is no. The mothers are not mind readers, how would they know she was in a delusional state rather than "just tired"? My heart really does go out to both families. It's a shame it had to come to this but it's no ones fault but Brittanys, had she just been honest from the beginning the families would not have to go through what they are about to. So you all can thank her for what lays ahead, I bet her family is proud of her now. NOT.

I agree with you, Jennifer. While it is a terrible tragedy for both families, the parents should also be held accountable for their negligence. It is negligence when you leave an irresponsible child in charge of two small children. I don't care if she is 20-years old. This girls is apparently very immature. This is indicated by her irresponsible behavior. This behavior did not just happen overnight, and I do not believe that her mother was not aware of just how irresponsible she is. I am sorry, but Mrs. Kovski was also aware of this. When you find the babysitter sleeping on the couch, it is a good indication that they are very irresponsible.
