Chicago State University names interim president

Chicago State University trustees Wednesday named Frank Pogue Jr. interim president, to replace embattled outgoing president Elnora Daniel.

It is at a crossroads for sure, but I am not so sure what it is. What is it that they really want to accomplish? One of the problems currently with black educational systems is the desire to have administrators who are 'accomplished'. The problem with this idea is that you get, for lack of a better word, hustlers because hustlers are almost always accomplished and accomplished people in the black community are almost always hustlers. When you hire hustlers, you can not be shocked when you get hustled.

What would do them well is someone who sees education as a calling, a ministry as it were (not that we need religious nuts there) but someone who sees education as something other than a way to earn money, like become a well rounded person.

But you do need to have some hustlers in there, because hustlers get things done, they just can not be in charge of the whole school.

Maybe it is time to try something altogether differently and do somethig more organic than appoint an administrator

Why would you want to see that in Cook County? Is that an insinuation that there are counties where such things do not happen? Where? The politics may be different elswhere, but they are still politics and politicians poorly balancing the good of the people with their own agenda. I mean look at your federal administration and tell me how no-bid contracts for Haliburton are not 'political' is that a better government than Cook County?

The only thing you should want to seem if you are a resident or someone who plans on attending Chicago State is it to be effective, whether that is with politics or not is irrelevant, don't you think?
