No, I have never and would never go there, this has always been against my beliefs. I'm saying I have become friends with people that want to make a difference, ssimilar perspective as mine; this took some time though to find and I'm very comfortable these people (trust and faith). You know, not to be a part of the problem but only helping to be part of the solution; to much violance. We won't back away from a fight, but we do try to pick the fight we want to fight; you understand. I know I was confusing at first, but I find myself lately starting from the beginning of my experiences and working backwords. I have found certain people that have become very judgemental, for whatever reason, most people become more receptive to listening then. Some think I'm a little goofy, who nows maybe I'm, but I have learned to place the perishable things in life before the materialistic things in life, I feel better about myself because of this. Certain people's perspective may be just the opposite. At one time I had a tendency and compromised my beliefs, sometimes I just don't respond to what I believe is negative; basicly I just pick my fights anymore. Does this mean do I think my perspective on life is better, no, it's just that the person that I'm speaking to might have a different perspecive; it's up to each of us to decide. We all reach a certain point in our journey through life when we take a stand, right or wrong in the other persons mind that's all. I just learned to believe we all need to communicate more and listen and focus on what the other person may be trying to say; less violence. Like I believe you and I are doing right now; it's much simpilar.
Must be nice to not have to take a stand. Well, at least you feel better about yourself while you're sitting on the fence. But at least you feel better about yourself, congratulations gutless!

Your perspective sucks. Just because you don't want to take a stand doesn't make you better. Must be nice to always come down on the right side of any issue. Grow a pair! You make me sick!

This whole mess should be investigated by the State Senate as well as the House of Reps. It is time to draw the line in the sand - what are we paying the legislature for? Launch an investigation and if nothing else deny her pension - to be paid like that is a bunch of crap.
They will not do it as she is a token and she might have the union backing her.

I worked for the state for 2 1/2 yrs. in an institution for convicted felons. Sometimes a person reads what is happening in the news paper or hears what is happening on the news, shakes their heads and doesn't give it any thought. Then when you actually experience it, the effects truly become reality and your perspective changes 100%; you know they are true but hard to believe until you actually see it. I became very, very sensitive with other peoples feelings and not just mine or my families. I would never intentionaly go into another person's space unless forced to prior to this, I wouldn't bother people. I finaly opened my eyes and said to myself, "What can I do to help make a difference." People can't change other people they can only change themself. You can help guide them but you can't make them; "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink." I saw certain people actually try to physically beat some sense into inmates but this only made the person worse with anger and hostility; instead of showing them by actions what normal is. Most inmates come from very abusive environments and think this is the norm, it isn't; it was only for the inmate. The certain inmate and other types come to believe that compassion is a weakness, it's not it's a strength; sometimes people take things for granted. If society wonders why there is so much repeat offenders, all they need to do is work in this type of environment for 6-8 mths. and keep their eye's and mind wide open, they will soon have their answers.
My sister worked at prison (na educator) in New York for 22 years before retiring and she would agree with you on cetain areas...
I will not name the prison, as I'm not sure if she still could get in trouble, but it's one of the nations worst and famous prisons.

<quoted text>Some people are not cut out for this type of business, as you know. Rather than admit it, however, a good percentage of unsuitables wind up on disability from an unwitnessed fall or other injury incurred at work. Great system abused by scammers.
I agree to a point. There are some as you explain and then there are some who don't realize what they were truly getting into; completely unaware and thought they understood because of the books they read. You definitely need school but experience finalizes it. There are even some that become so disturbed by what they see.... well lets just say they end up needing counseling, you understand. Personally, I needed a break to get a breath of fresh air, going back in to try and help make a difference. The employees, because of what the profession demands, that do inherit the criminal personality....there either weak in character or prior to being employed they already crossed over from cautious to cynical and all hell breaks loose (the stories behind the walls). I do believe there are a great deal more convicted innocent people than the system would like to admit; if they admitted it then the responsible person would have a definite problem with their own well being. I started writing a book; I haven't decided yet to publish when I'm completed or just keep it for my own reference. I get pretty detailed at times and I sometimes think society may not be ready for it; there's enough confusion in the world now. I will say this, repeat criminal offenders definitely believe it's a way of life...that everyone is like them but there are some real hard cores who are just as much a threat to them self as they are others.

When a person sits in the middle of the road (you say sits on the fence) they get to see traffic a lot better on both sides; they get a better understanding of both the convicted felon as well as the employee by focusing and listening to both sides. If I only allowed my self to see one side I would become judgemental and cynical towards the other side and end up being part of the problem.

With sitting on top of the fence, as you put it, try physically sitting on top of one once; it's much much harder. No I'm not being sarcastic, judgemental or cynical towards you; that would make me a hypocrite.

This website is factual and documented; their are some that have seen it and can't accept what actually has happened. Click on 'blood on hands'....real life. Crazy!

This state has its share of similar incidents. It's not that the good guys are the bad guys....its that they end up being the bad guys. Federal money is paid for each individual inmate every year they are incarcerated...big business. Medical being controlled by out of state business...less medical attention to the inmate=lawsuits to the state and our taxes...who's making the money the out of state business (I'll let your creative mind work out other possible money making thoughts). I could go on but.....The citizen ends up directing its anger incorrectly and it's not their fault really only because they don't know and don't know where to look. Anyway, I hope this helps with a better understanding.
