Peace activists to be trained in conflict resolution
A peace group that meets in Edinboro will receive training in nonviolent conflict resolution -- a result of two members being charged for their parts in an April 22 brawl.

The pro war faction intentionally tries to provoke a conflict. The anti war people have to be wise enough not to be instigated into a yelling match or even worse. How can we show people that violence is not the way to solve problems when we use it ourselves? I don't think the peace people have ever tried to cram brochures in people's faces. They gave them signs if they wanted them. We're in the same position that we were during the Vietnam war when we knew the war was wrong, knew that there was no way to actually win the errant conflict but don't know how to leave and save face. We shouldn't be worrying about appearing to have lost in Iraq. We lost the day that we attacked them illegally and immorally!

Funny how some on the right are trying to spin this article into an admission that the whole fight was the fault of the peace protesters, rather than figuring out that in offering this training, those on the left are being proactive in learning how to deal with the threats, intimidation, and violence of a few on the right (the Swartout clan, in this instance).
Also looks like some here might benefit from a bit of that same training, or at least something in the way of manners and civil discourse. |

Why are the sisters not charged with assault & battery? When viewing the videos, it's clear that they struck first (literally), then kicked the woman in the head! This does not project peace folks! I am as peaceful as any person. BUT a big difference between a peace protest and a war protest. So let me get this right, if you are against the war, you're a traitor and a "peace protester" and you should be intimidated into submission of protesting against the war? Yeah right!

Sanford Kelson. Who's involved in spreading misinformation that if you want to photo, video or otherwise record someone in a public place, that you'd need that person's written consent? Sanford Kelson. Kelson is the local head of Veterans For Peace. His buddy John Grant is the head of Veterans For Peace in Philadelphia where a similar situation (protest/counter protest) is taking place. Funny that in Erie, Amy DeWald gets convicted, now the Stelmacks get charged for violence, while in the Philadelphia area, another peacenik who holds a "Veteran For Peace" sign faces charges for smacking a woman and then putting his mand on a policeman. John Grant uses the fact that there are counter protests in Eria and Philadelphia to alledge a conspiracy against the “peace movement” in order to whip up a frenzy in the West Chetsre folks, while Sanford Kelson tells peace group followers that Pennsylvania's Wiretapping and Electronic Surveillance Control Act, 18 Pa. C.S.§ 5701 requires people to get your written permission to film you while you are in a public place. It’s BS that’s designed to cause conflict and Sanford Kelson is either incompentant or lying when he spreads the notion it applies to people in public conducting a demonstration. Note that the one obnoxious young lady in the video gets all amped up and beligerant about exactly that, she screams that they need her written permission. They she demands people’s names because she’s going to sue them. I was waiting for the little Nazi in jackboots to say,“Your papers please” in her best Gestapo accent. That’s hand in hand with the legal threats made in writing against by the VFP and Women In Black with a carbon copy to Sanford Kelson. So Sanford winds them up and sends them off knowing he’s created a great potential for conflict. Here’s the deal, if you don’t have a reasonable expectation to privacy where you’re at, you don’t have a right and can not claim a right to privacy. When in a public place, you no longer have a right to privacy. Ask any journalism professor about it. Not that it really matters, but a key aspect of that law is that it’s about illegal bugging. Like where you don’t know you’re being recorded. Pretty much even the Stelmacks were smart enough to realize “that’s a camera, they record stuff”. If you march in a Vetrans For Peace, Iraq Veterans Against the War, ANSWER, United for Peace & Justice, Code Pink or World Can't Wait anyti-war march you are participating in treason. All those groups participated and/or endorsed the findings of the World Tribunal on Iraq. Those findings picked sides in the Iraq war, the enemy's side. They told the enemy that the terrorists killing Americans and Iraqs was legitimate and justified under the UN Charter and International Law, even if they had to commit war crimes and attrocities to do it. Don't give me that it's the fringe, it's your LEADERS. Don't give me that YOU march for peace because there is no peace sign big enough to cover the shame of supporting the effort of those who approve of the murder of American troops and Iraqi civilians. |
