You have got to be kidding me. This is an outrage. our senior citizens are way more valuable to society than jailbirds. They are in jail because they have harmed the general public in one way or another. In my opinion they should b the last to obtain any kind of public health assistance. This is total bs.

He never said he was a prisoner!! And as far as the swine flu shot is concered, my daughter is a RN in NY and is now fighing the state of NY because she does not want the shot because there is little knowledge on the side affects. It is to new of a vaccine to force the health care workers to have the shot or get fired from your job as in the new NY state law!
<quoted text>
Sorry Sad World....go back, check his name. He did identify himself as a prisoner and went on to say he is in jail for a stupid mistake.

Please read a little more carefully, or maybe phrase it better. The only thing sad about this is your misreading and jumping down a strangers throat. Truly is a sad world, I guess.

I'm sorry for your daughter being forced to get the vaccine but I think they are trying to stop exactly what she is doing...being irresponsible in her job and risking her patients. Hopefully there are no side effects and she'll be ok.

Great Idea...finally the State of Mass Confusion has come up with a way to reduce crime..........give them the Needle and reduce the inmate population.
Congrats. You were the first to grasp it.

The inmates are a captive group of human guinea pigs, and many will suffer the consequences of the shots.

I went back and checked his name, It is Prisoner. Just because he has that as his name doesn't mean he is one. I still can't find where he says he is in Jail. I wonder what all the Nurses out there would think about you.

Are they crazy! I am more concerned about my 2 small boys that both currently go to school and daycare who have a much bigger chance of catching this virus because they have so much contact with the outside world than the inmates who have hardly NO contact with the outside world. I think the MA health officials have their priorities all backwards. This is one of the most stupidest decisions they could have ever made! Not to mention, they say that children need two doses of this vaccine NOT IF THEY GIVE IT TO INMATES IN JAIL!!! My two boys won't get any vaccines because there won't be any left after it is ALL given to the inmates. I mean, come on: do they realize just how many inmates are the MA jails! Also, there is currently ten times more children in MA. Ask yourself a question, would you rather give this vaccine to your long lost sister in jail or would you rather give it to your 3 year old son who goes to a PUBLIC daycare?

I guess you do not have any idea how many doses of vaccine are available!
The state has to pick up the costs for sick inmates,I really do not want to foot the bill to hospitalize hundreds, possibly thousands of inmates,do you?

We do it already bury the prisoners that rotted in jail for murder. At least we will know if the shots are any good. Who would you rather have die first from the swine shot you or a pedophile. If we are going to bury him in the long run we might as well use him for something good. At least it probably will be more humane then some of the ways the prisoners killed their victims. If you take the shot and get sick from it. Who will pay for your medical expensive's? It won't be the government that will pay it for you! Or would you rather have the nurses in New York find out if the swine shot is O.K. If the nurses and health care provides get sick and die from the shot who will take of the people in hospitals. Its a scary thought isn't it?

I recently spent 3 weeks in the hospital, the nurses were the best part of the excellent care I got. I'm quite sure they would have, out of concern for their extremely high risk patients, known to get the vaccine.

As for continued confusion about our prisoner, read it again, it is clear he is. Maybe you are trying to say he's gotten out. I don't know, he doesn't comment..so maybe he was and not is.

I don't know about you but I'm scared to death about the swine flu and the shot. I hope you are feeling better. I also worried if the health care providers get the shot and get sick or die who will take care of us when we are in the hospital. But if they don't get the shot they would be the first to get sick and spread the swine flu. Its does not sound like a win win situation at all.

Why are some of you so against this. Would you rather have your children tested as guinea pigs first? For one there are more natural safe ways to protect yourself like fish oil and vitamin d. Mass is smart because if anything is wrong with the vaccine that was not very well tested then the prisoners would be the guinea pigs not your poor children. I'm not even getting it nor is my family!

If there is a shortage of swine flu shots, prisoners should not be a priority. Shots should be given to the corrections officers and other staff only. And if there is a flu outbreak, than restrict all family and friends from visiting. That will keep it confined to the prison.

GIVE THE SHOTS TO THE GUARDS AND THEIR FAMILIES. HAVE AN EVALUATION POINT SET UP FOR INMATE VISITORS. THE PRISION STAFF SHOULD FOLLOW THE CDC RECCOMENDATIONS THAT NO ONE COME TO WORK IF THEY FEEL ILL HAVE A TEMERATURE OF >=100.4 DEGREES. NO ONE GETS IN TO THE FACILITY IF THE THERE IS ANY QUESTION OF THEIR CURRENT HEALTH.
IF THE H1N1 VIRUS MAKES IT INTO THE FACILITY IS 99 PERCENT LIKELY GOING TO BE BROUGHT IN FROM ONE OF THESE SOURCES,PRISION STAFF, GUARDS,PRISION HEALTH CARE WORKERS OR NEW INMATES.
AM I PISSED "YES ' MY GRANDCHILDREN HAD BEEN CANCLED FOR THEIR SHOTS BECOUSE THE VACCINE RAN OUT.

I'm not necessarily against this. I would like to say don't vaccinate and don't treat, but I guess that is inhumane, even if they don't deserve humanity.

Whatever the decision is, can we at least stop with the farcical guinea pig argument? thousands of people have had the vaccine already. We already have our guinea pigs...the nation's children. Testing it on a bunch of societal dead beats won't give us any more information.

It boils down to who should get it based on risk...and some here are making a good argument about avoiding the cost of treatment. I don't know...I keep hearing a few days bed rest and most are fine. We don't have kids in jail, so maybe we should just look at those that would require expensive treatment...asthma, HIV etc.

But it isn't about testing the vaccine...already doing that now!

Daily Horoscope for December 7

Libra

You're ready to put a lot of energy and drive into the day, but you'll prefer it if you're doing things that have meaning and emotional significance for you. There's a chance that you could get quite heated over anything that strikes you as important now, and others could be taken aback by your vehemence. There might also be a minor dust-up over a financial matter.
