I have been trying to reach a City inspector for weeks!!!!!!! Why do we pay these people to be unavailable??? I have a structural problem and can't reach anyone to cover for me with the contractor! This position needs to be filled!

What do you mean "cover for you"?The contractor needs to pull a permit before he can do any structual work.

The City Inspectors are corrupt and a joke. They need to realize it's the residents City Hall too instead they work on the favor system and hide information and if you have done some research and know what questions to ask they get mad at you. Imagine you have to know what their job(s) entail in order go know you are getting the correct info from them. Did you know "that they are very busy" (that's what I was told when I had to go in the office for a 3rd time cause what I asked for & what I got didn't seem right) well guess what we are all busy, I do my job try doing yours!

Lou, aka; Not Again,

Wow you are just the expert on everything to do with city hall.

That's amazing for someone who swears they never worked there!

Was the thread starter supposed to pull a permit before his unintended structural damage that he wants to repair happened?

He has damage to fix
he needs a building inspector with a pulse to put this in motion,
get it?

I had a situation that sounds a bit similar. Not only did the inspector finally, after weeks that I physically went to City Hall and made several phone calls, did they come. Then proceeded to right the report and leave off several things he himself had noted. I had to call again. He said "oh I must have had a brain fart". Then rewrote the report. It took a total of two and a half months before I was finally able to get the work done.
I have said before, when you do the right thing in this city, you get the run around, but if I was a scumbag about it, I probably would've been treated better. It seems that is how thing work in the city of Everett.

If you read the post you would have seen that I simply asked"what do you mean cover for you?". The inspector only cares if the work is done according to state building codes. He is not an advisor to the homeowner. The owner or contractor fills out the application and the inspector makes sure that it conforms.I am not a city employee or contractor but I have been thru the process. Got it?And "not again" who would want to be you?
