from what i hear the cook they stole from twistin 50's is a horrible cook. Twistin 50's was about to let her go she cant cook bacon for shit. it was either too burnt or under cooked. Now the cook in smokies that walks around with a doorag on her head she is a great cook. I used to eat everyday up at Majestic Steak house when she cooked there. Her meatloaf is awesome and her red velvet cake is incredible. I have had some of her banana pudding and its also great tasting. The sloppy joes that she made about 3 weeks ago was finger licking good.

She is not a horrible cook, and if she cooked "bad bacon" I'm sure someone would have spoke up by now. But have they? No. Because that's a lie. Some people need to realize this site isn't to be immature and talk shit constantly about someone they know nothing about, example, "bubba". Because chances are you're just someone who has nothing better to do than down people because you're unsatisfied with yourself. She's an awesome cook, guys. Overlook this everyday simple idiot. Please & thank you.(:

She only been there what a week at the most? I think your hot for Debbie. lol and all I see her do is out in the dinning room yakking with the tall cute waitress. Now the other 2 cooks that have been there since the second or 3rd week that they were open are awesome cooks. The cheesy hamburger casserole, sloppy joes, country fried steak, and the Banana pudding is great.

Seems quite odd how you just so happen bring up the "female cook who wears a doorag" some might think you to be her or of close connection. Maybe a bit of envy considering Debbie is head cook now. BUT saying you aren't, then you'd know some of the best food that came from that kitchen was in fact the man they have back there. Her recipes are decent but lacked flavor. I prefer having choices I cant just whip up at home, sloppy joes? cheesy hanburger casserole? Its basically Hamburger Helper. Dont get me wrong she was HUGE improvement from the first cook at opening. But I have eaten there since Debbie started and I've noticed variety and lots of good country flavor. I can see having an opinion but to directly name Debbie out and bash her individually seems coincidental.

I have read your comments about the help at Smokies and think you should be Captain Genius! I have noticed great changes since two weeks before Debbie came over. The biggest reason for the change is the female owner took over the menu and ordering. You may have noticed hamburger helper is no longer on the menu and as long as there is breath in her body it won't be back! The recipes are hers including the famous banana pudding! The place is growing and the whole staff is learning to work together so please continue to give them a chance.

Hello, meet Debbie's daughter, Christina. you might want to not run your mouth about someone you obviously know nothing about. She is an extremely hard worker, and yes, the other cooks are awesome as well. Glad you noticed. ;) You're probably like 40. Get off this website, lowlife.

Sunny's comments are refreshing and true. The owners are being more proactive with menu selections and ordering. This input has aided in focusing their vision of Smokies. This vision seems to be an overarching desire to produce a quality country-accented product; a product that is accented with a shockingly low price.

Yes, Smokies is new, and yes, Smokies is still evolving- perhaps even still birthing in a sense. But their core essence is firmly placed and wanting to serve the Western Kentucky area.

But as with all complex endeavors, Smokies is a team effort that will succeed not from the addition or subtraction of one cook- whether they worked at Twistin' 50's; Bob Evens; or Main Street Java-, but from the cohesive integration of a skilled crew that applies the depth of their culinary abilities to further the vision of a dedicated ownership.

Anyone who entered that place before it closed down, and has been in since re-opening with the new management and staff has to see the HUGE improvement before even getting to the food. I am glad to see the childishness has yet to rear its ugly head on here again so far. One person alone will not make or break a place. Agreed it is very much a team effort of all employess there and with the input of the public. Granted pleasing everyone isn't possible, but I must say I am a satisfied customer and will keep returning. The food just keeps getting better and better. Its getting more and more like good ole down home country cooking. Big hearty portions, lots of flavor, variety and all at a great price. You can walk out of there stuffed with a box to go for under $10 a person. I enjoy seeing choices that you can't just go anywhere and get. The atmosphere in there is very welcoming, most of the staff is very friendly and accomodating and try to go above and beyond to make sure each customer is happy.
Oh and "bubba" if you happen to be reading this, its quite obvious you have an issue more so with a particular person than it just being their cooking. In my personal opinion, going by your ravishing comments on the food you gave previously, you must have seriously underdeveloped taste buds or have lived a very sheltered cuisine life.

CaptainObvious, it has been a pleasure reading your posts. Good to see a like-minded individual on this thread.
I never visited Smokies before the new management took over, so I never saw what it looked like before, though I can imagine quite a bit (Coming from a restaurant background myself). All I can say is that Smokies is in great shape now and I love going there for the friendly atmosphere and the great food.
See you at Smokies, CaptianObvious.

Yeah so this place isn't anything like it was, could or should be. Got different workers there everytime you go in. You can see the pissyness on the owners face and sit and watch and listen to him bitch out his employees in front of customers. The food is respectable but that's about all and the only thing consistent there. The one waitress who's been there a little over a month, wears a ponytail talks real loud and slow, gap in her teeth....she's tore up from the floor up most days don't know if she's high or pilled out or what. Its just sad knowing what that place could be but hey what can you expect?! Such a shame

I was going to smokies just about everyday and the ONLY thing they have going for them is the food. The resturaunt itself and the enviorment is horrible. The owners have no idea how to run a resturaunt, not to mention the male owner walking around chain smoking while people are eating, very disrespectful if you ask me. I have also heard him bitch at his employees and that is one of the reason i quit going there, not to mention its so hot in there. I know which waitress your talking about and I to, think that she is on drugs or something. She waited on us not to long ago and her eyes were red and you could have blinded her with dental floss. You can tell she likes attention for sure. I will never go back to that place and if you ask me it probably will not be open much longer.

Well Im glad to know that it wasn't just me. You can see a change in the atmosphere of the place in general, plus differences in employees and owners. The food finally gets to a good point and the rest goes to hell in a handbasket. It ALWAYS smells like an ashtray in there. Dont get me wrong, smokers welcome by all means, but I dont want to see the owners puffing away right by the door and have the one walk around with an ashtray and cigarette right by me and my food! Have some courtesy for crying out loud. The service has severely gone down hill....most don't act like they give a rats ass about what they are doing much less knowing the menu and prices...I get charged something different every time I go....its just incredibly sad knowing how good that place could be.

I think they need to shut their doors. Food is so so and they can't keep employees. The real country one might as well be a prostitute. She's a low life. Don't want her touching my food. I quit eating there. I suggest the same for others. On top of that I think the owners a drunk. No thank you.
