I personally know of a house out of which drugs were being sold becuase it was my coworkers home. Her daughter's boyfriend while she was at work and she found out when he was arrested. Anyway, my point is this. I do not have much income but still am not afflicted with poverty mentality, which is what white flight and segregation is. It accomplishes nothing, as you should be able to see by now from your experiences. Neighborhoods such as Flossmoor for example, have multiple races living harmoniously on the same blocks. Why? Income and education. But it doesn't take money to change your mind. Crime is the devil and I am not going to run from evil. That is no solution. The way to fight evil is with the blood of Jesus. You sound like you have racial issues. Remember only Jesus can save you.

I am actually a grown woman. It saddens me to see the things that happen in Calumet City today. I believe this city can be great if the residents so desire for positive change. One thing I notice today is that people move looking for what their community can do for them, when really we should be asking what can we do for our community. In my community there are residents coming together for positive change, but only a few and there should be more. In my old neighborhood in Calumet City there were shootings, drug dealing and alot of crime general. The gang members ran the neighborhood knowing that the police wouldn't bother them and still do over there from what I hear. Some of my neighbors who were long time residents came to the point where they were afraid to go to sleep in the summer and that is a shame.

Hey Highland, We no how you feel, just like you all have always felt, That you have a perfect place to live, and that you are better than everyone in the Hammond area. It was that way in the 60's and most likely will always be that way!!!

There is a sickness that plagues the suburbs now. It can be attributed to a few things. Since the City of Chicago underwent urban renewal many families were replace is the suburbs. After living in certain condition adapting to a new environment can be difficult. Not only this, many bring a certain character along with them to this new home. As we can see it's becoming reflective in suburbs just as it was in the city. Blame Daley and Blagovich for these problems. Why? Because they dump their problems in place that don't care about, and left the Suburban Police Department's to figure it out for themselves. Dirty Political Games.

Some parents even let their child's boyfriend or girlfriend live in the house with them. I've seen it happen. It's unbelievable, but its the new norm.

Tell me do you have teenage kids? I do and let me tell you , yes I let their boyfriends and girlfriends spend the night at my house. They are in by midnight, usually with a movie to watch and something to eat from McDonalds or some where else. Oh boy, this makes me a bad parent. Yep, your right they might have sex after I go to sleep. Big deal, they are not out causing trouble, stealing and robbing. They are not prowling around in your neighborhood, and if you think they wouldn't find somewhere to have sex your stupid. So in ending, yes they have people sleep over, I know who they, where they are and what they are doing. My kids have not been arrested, shot or shot at someone else. So tell me again, why am I a bad parent. Is it because I open up my home to keep my kids safe??

Well, in my opinion parents should seek biblical authority in raising their children. Many parents are thinking that they are keeping children safe when they are actually setting the wrong example. I do not have children but If I did there would be no members of the opposite gender spending the night in my home. When my father allowed my sister's boyfriend to live with them I did not enter their home. I have high standards for my life and was not going to condone that behavior. Anyway, this is supposed to be about gangbanging. It sickens me that police ignore this in Calumet City but that can change with the election of Pam Capp.

In Response,
Obviously you have no children. If you did you would learn to think outside the box to keep them home and safe. A kid does not have to be in a gang to die by a gang. A stray bullet from a drive-by is all it takes. I have worked as LEO for a long time, and I would rather have 10 or 15 kids piled up over night at my house then be called out to identify them on a crime scene. I do not encourage or promote the opportunity for them to have sex. Dominios knows we have a standing order and I should collect frequent flier miles at Block-Buster. IF...IF you had a 17 or 18 year old teenager would you feel better that they were over at my house or "Cruising" with their friends? I think I will stay at the house.

No one needs "Biblical Authority" to raise kids! You need common sense. Besides, there is no Biblical Authority. You sound like another Christian advertisement.

/If what you are saying is true, then what are doing now to stop other kids from doing what you have done in the past? One thing is sit here and tell people that you have learned your lesson, and you are sorry for the past....redemption...think about it. Get your arse out on the streets and speak about your life to people.

Yes, you ARE a bad mother if you're allowing your kids to have sex in your house when they're not married and have no good, stable career. If you would have done your job right, your kids would have far better morals than they do now.
