The truth about holidays. Or any day, for that matter:

Romans 14:5 (KJV)

5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

What silly men...you and Blackwell. I notice he is hooked up with a St. Mary's and a St. Leo's! Cracks me up!

You wouldn't even know your own birth date were it not for the Catholic Church.

Yes and even though he ranks among the top Greek scholars on Topix I doubt he knows X is an ancient symbol and abbreviation for the word Christ.

Could care less about those folks...only do this to watch them squirm and try to wiggle away from their Baptist roots. Nothing they say or do has an effect on anyone most especially Catholics.

I got stuck in a CoC school for junior high back in the mid-70's.

It did not make a favorable impression on me.

Every time I open my door animals run inside the house looking for their dinner. I could probably reproduce the scene where the neighborhood dogs run inside and eat the family turkey. I could make all kinds of terrified sounds, then take the family out for Chinese.
Totally see this happening.
"Fra-gi-lee! It must be Italian!"

Darren McGavin was classic in that role. He was also real good on "Kolchak: The Night Stalker" too. Great 70's bad television. ABC's monster of the week!

This traditional translation of the Proclamation of the Birth of Christ comes from the Roman Martyrology, the official listing of the saints celebrated by the Roman Rite of the Catholic Church. For centuries, it was read or chanted on Christmas Eve, before the celebration of Midnight Mass.

Traditional Proclamation of the Birth of Christ

The twenty-fifth day of December.
In the five thousand one hundred and ninety-ninth year of the creation of the world
from the time when God in the beginning created the heavens and the earth;
the two thousand nine hundred and fifty-seventh year after the flood;
the two thousand and fifteenth year from the birth of Abraham;
the one thousand five hundred and tenth year from Moses
and the going forth of the people of Israel from Egypt;
the one thousand and thirty-second year from David's being anointed king;
in the sixty-fifth week according to the prophecy of Daniel;
in the one hundred and ninety-fourth Olympiad;
the seven hundred and fifty-second year from the foundation of the city of Rome;
the forty second year of the reign of Octavian Augustus;
the whole world being at peace,
in the sixth age of the world,
Jesus Christ the eternal God and Son of the eternal Father,
desiring to sanctify the world by his most merciful coming,
being conceived by the Holy Spirit,
and nine months having passed since his conception,
was born in Bethlehem of Judea of the Virgin Mary,
being made flesh.
The Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ according to the flesh.
