We don't need Paul teaching that Peter is in charge. Everybody already knew.
He knew Jesus already said this with his own mouth. Upon you Peter, I will build my Church.
That is why Paul spent went and spent 15 days alone with Peter after his 3 years away. received Peter's approval and instruction.
You never addressed this text.

ll teachers are to be tested by the Scriptures. 1 Cor. 4:6 says, "Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively applied to myself and Apollos for your sakes, that in us you might learn not to exceed what is written, in order that no one of you might become arrogant in behalf of one against the other." Even when Paul emphasized that his writings were the laws of the Lord (1 Cor. 14:37), it was in opposition to what men might claim as laws. The Scriptures, therefore, are the only authority. Any practice not found in them is of human origin and is, therefore, false.

Whom in the foundation of your church was given authority to exceed what was written?

Peter never could and never did make anyone an apostle. Paul was an Apostle of Special birth as he said.
Sure he did. It was under his Authority that Judas was replaced.

15 During those days Peter stood up in the midst of the brothers (there was a group of about one hundred and twenty persons in the one place). He said,

16 “My brothers, the scripture had to be fulfilled which the holy Spirit spoke beforehand through the mouth of David, concerning Judas, who was the guide for those who arrested Jesus.m

17 He was numbered among us and was allotted a share in this ministry.

18 n He bought a parcel of land with the wages of his iniquity, and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle, and all his insides spilled out.*

19 This became known to everyone who lived in Jerusalem, so that the parcel of land was called in their language ‘Akeldama,’ that is, Field of Blood.

20 For it is written in the Book of Psalms:
‘Let his encampment become desolate,
and may no one dwell in it.’
And:‘May another take his office.’

Thank you for proving my point.

What did Peter appeal to to prove what he was saying? BINGO the Scripture. What Gave that scripture the authority to be brought forth ....BINGO the HOLY SPIRIT. Why would he have needed either if he could claim all Authority as you claim he had? BINGO he could not nor did he. There was only on that claimed all Authority and that was the Christ.

Bingo. Authority and no Sola Scriptura

Nobody was sitting around giving their interpretation of scripture.

Lets finish this and show that Peter was not the Pope of the Body of Christ.

21 Therefore it is necessary that of the men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out [t]among us— 22 beginning [u]with the baptism of John until the day that He was taken up from us—one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.” 23 So they put forward two men, Joseph called Barsabbas (who was also called Justus), and Matthias. 24 And they prayed and said,“You, Lord, who know the hearts of all men, show which one of these two You have chosen 25 to [v]occupy this ministry and apostleship from which Judas turned aside to go to his own place.” 26 And they [w]drew lots for them, and the lot fell [x]to Matthias; and he was [y]added to the eleven apostles.

If Peter had been the Pope he would have been able to appoint without praying to God to have someone chosen for him. Notice also that THEY prayed not just Peter. So thanks again as the scripture is quickly defeating your theology.

That is an old question.

Just like Jesus appointed the first 12, when he was among them, so did he now being absent.

It is not my theology, it is Christ's.

I used to think I was equal to him when I was Protestant and could decide his thoughts 2000 years later.

I now know Paul was right, when he said the Church is the pillar and foundation of Truth and that the Church came before the Bible and the Bible specially says it does not hold all the Truth.

Your Theology is yours, personally dreamed up by either your personal interpretation of the Bible or Campbell's.

Just one of 40,000 other personal interpretations.

Dang, the conversation is getting trite!

Anyone here read 'Jesus' Words Only' by Douglas J. Del Tondo, Esq.? He's making a good case that substantiates my suspicions about Paul much more clearly.

Of the false doctrines taught today, all center on something Paul wrote. Every single one of them.

If disciples of Christ differ in beliefs of doctrine - they should turn to what He said - not what Paul said.

And at the core of this issue is no one has ever vetted the books of the NT to the standards God gave in the OT. Jesus proved Himself a prophet of God - He taught according to the Torah and Prophets before Him, gave true prophecy that came to pass (His resurrection from the dead, and the destruction of the Jewish Temple).

Paul never gave a single valid prophecy and testified against the Torah and covenant of God.

You just can't stand it when I point out that everything you do on Sunday morning came straight from the Baptist church, from the water tank to the hymns to the preaching and to the Welchs. Everything.

Oh the rotten fruit of Sola Scriptura.

On one hand we have the low end Paulinist Prots who think without Paul, Jesus' ministry would have a been a failure, and on the other side of the continuum of SS we have the wanna be Messianic Jews claiming God should have let the lightning kill Saul.

This is from reading the same book. Belief in SS is bizarre.

God has said that He could send a prophet who could do works or foretell things, but that if he taught not to do as God had said previously, that they were sent to see if we would still serve God and do as He said - or not - to prove whether we would be true to God. Paul repeatedly failed this test in teachings. And he was destroyed when he failed to do as he himself had said - to not take our case to the courts of men, but to the Church, amongst brethren of the Lord. But no, he appealed to Ceaser, and to jail he went, and there he died. The Church prophets told Paul not to go, but he wouldn't listen.

We can throw out all the books of Paul and still have the gospel.

Which of the twelve claimed authority to teach? or authority as an apostle as Paul did? None of them. They simply told us what Y'shua taught and encouraged us to walk in the truth as He told it.

If I'm wrong about the NT books not being vetted by the standards God gave as to who we are to hear - do tell who did this and when.

Otherwise, you'd be well advised to just 'shut your trap and listen.'

JC, you'd just as well let him continue to guide himself in the trench of darkness. He refuses to see truth and refuses to hear God.
