I felt so bad for Noblin's youngest boy, who was seated next to someone in the lobby, I assume a relative, with his head hung low minutes after his father was sentenced. I patted him on the back and said, "He's going to be OK, Champ," turned and looked at the man he was with who smiled and nodded in appreciation, and I walked away. Saw the prosecutor in the men's room just before exiting, who greeted me, and I, figuring this was not the place and time to get into it with him, managed to grunt something back as I left. Did the prosecutor care about Stanley's children? Not the way he ripped into him, and wanted him put in the penitentiary for ten years, for what the judge said people do not do time for as first time offenders (except apparently if they were from law enforcement positions) missing his son's entire childhood. I remember asking a prosecutor decades ago if he was considering the children of someone he was after, and him replying that wasn't his concern. As someone coming from the healing arts, as in my case, this is beyond my ken. He never said he thought Noblin would be a repeat offender. No one even suggested that remotely. He may even have said that he didn't think he would be, but admittedly I'm not sure. I'd have to look at the court transcript for that one. Noblin has to pay restitution for every cent he took. Why take him away from his children? What good did this accomplish? What harm? I wish someone like Abram Pafford had defended Stanley and his family. I don't think he would've had to spend a day behind bars. I saw his lawyer as he was leaving, passing by about a half dozen of us who were talking, just a big smile and walked on. He didn't have the spunk of an Abram Pafford, just as aggressively defending his freedom as much as the prosecutor wanted to take it away, not in my opinion. Had I been a lawyer, and his lawyer, I would've verbally torn that prosecutor apart, not even saying any of the "controversial" things I said in the video above, but sticking within the range of accepted conventional thought. I'm upset about this. Wish others were, besides Elaine, and everyone else in that courtroom save the prosecutor. I think the judge, because of the vicious way the prosecutor attacked, and claimed, contrary to what we all saw among the witnesses in the courtroom, that this needed to be done to make a statement to others, or something like that. What others? Worried about the sensational seeking media once again perhaps? IDK. I am glad the judge didn't go with the prosecutor's stated goal of Noblin leaving humiliated in cuffs in front of his children and to the heartbreak of everyone else there. I mostly blame, 1) the prosecutor, and 2) Noblin's attorney, who did a nice job with asking questions of the witnesses, but a lousy job of countering the prosecutor's rhetoric. A doctor takes a patient's life seriously. I often wonder if those in law enforcement, and law, shouldn't have to take human anatomy & physiology to appreciate the miracle of human life. It's a sad day really. We were all relieved Stanley wouldn't be sent to the pen, but none was truly happy with the outcome. I was one of the first ones to give the big man a quick bear hug, and before and after I did my eyes said it all. Stanley knew I cared. Indeed he knew everyone cared, save this one man from out of the area who treated Stanley and his family as if they were dirt.
