So Bible dude you ever hear of the English Martyrs? And want to tell us exactly which prots returned "to the original church?" Was it the Church of England? Lutherans? Presbyterians? Methodists? Baptists? Exactly which ones was it? Surely you don't mean the CofC!
All Protestant churches moved back closer to the original church when they left the Catholic Church. The Catholic church itself left the original church centuries before the Protestant churches left the Catholic church. The manmade traditions of Catholics sent the reformation movement in motion as we left the heretic Catholics and thanks to our brave leaders like Martin Luther started the return to our roots in the original church. All Protestants are heros and can be congratulated for standing against the power hungry church and seeking the truth.

Well I've read some delusional comments before on these pages but yours gets first prize and a blue ribbon. I can't even imagine how you could have come up with such nonsense.

I consider it a gift but do not allow it to go to my head at all. As you well know from the posts you place on topix we are equally talented.

You will never see a post from me that is not the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. You are simply a liar. I am still astonished at the nonsense you have posted here and can only hope you are not in a position of authority or a teacher. Mostly likely though you are a CofC preacher.

CoC preacher? You sure know how to hurt someone. I am not a CoC preacher. You may not like what I said but it is the truth that sometimes hurts, I know Catholics don't like to talk about the unpleasant truths in their history but they are there. I enjoyed our discussions and those with Mike also. In a post to Mike, I looked in an old bible I had and have decided to move on to a study that it reminded me of. I don't post much on topix but it does take time and I want to do something that I believe is more important. After all we could disagree for a long, long, long, time. Nothing personal. God Bless You (Mike also).

All can trace their start to a man but one. Only one existed for 1500 years.
You sound more and more like a Jew yet they can trump your history with theirs.

Think I made this point before. If tracing history, being the oldest was the deciding factor we'd all be Jews still waiting for Messiah to show up. Catholicism is warmed-over Judaism; Rome is now Jerusalem; Vatican the temple. You hit nail on the head with this one.

This whole forum been hijacked with catholic speak. This is why I said that catholicism and Christianity are two different things. I would rather continue the conversation about homosexuality, it is more productive. Please continue with your thoughts. We have plenty of other topics we can play cath vs. prots in :)

From the CCC:

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,141 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

Why would God create people with sexual urges that are "contrary to the natural law"? If God creates something, isn't it exactly as it should be? Plenty of sex does not pro-create - why isn't all non-productive sex banned?

Why would God create gay people only to have them deny their identity? Why is being gay a "difficulty"? Being gay is easy except for all the heterosexual people who actively make life for gay people difficult.

Why would any gay person WANT this for themselves? If people are so in love with religion that they WANT to sacrifice their sexuality, then those people are called to chastity - not chosen for chastity by their sexuality. I could never support this sort of thinking. Isn't it easy to dole out rules for people who are not YOU?

Dave, I was unaware that there was such a difference between Protestant and Catholic Christianity - this is a fairly vicious argument - has it been ongoing for some time?

PS - Yays for Gays!
