Police Briefs: Callahan girl, 16, dies after being hit by truck

A 16-year-old Callahan girl was killed March 19 after she was hit by a truck driven by Ashley Lewis, 18, also of Callahan. via The Florida Times-Union

I was a really good friend of Meagen Cravey... and even though everything was an accident I still believe Ashley Lewis should be punished in some way. Meagen was a much loved person and she will always be remembered.

meagen was my daughter and was the world to me. She was a handful at times as are most teenagers. I am not angry at Ashley any more, I am still upset that the highway patrol never checked her for any illeagal substance. I have questions that may never be answered, but I go on day by day and try not to let my grief take over. It's all I can do. I miss her and I love her, that's the only absolute in my life.

ITS BEEN OVER A YEAR NOW SINCE MEAGEN WAS TAKEN FROM US AND YET I FEEL AS IF AM LIVEING IN THE MOMENT I WAS TOLD SHE WAS GONE. THE PAIN COMES BACK EVERY TIME I OPEN MY EYES, SHE WASNT HER FOR MOTHERS DAY, HER BROTHERS OR MY BIRTHDAY AND SHE WONT BE HERE TO HELP HER SISTER TURN 21. more than a year has passed now... its been one of the longest years of my life..
what i would give to spend one more day looking at Meagen's BEAUTIFUL smile! and enjoying her laugh.. i miss her more than ever.
