Let's all hope Mr. McCann doesn't manage like Ron Dellums--- you know, delegate the job and then be MIA. Mill Valley will be looking for a lot more work from the City Manager then Calistoga did. It certainly is not laid back any more. It's all about, yes, ME Valley. Good luck one and all....

The salary is an insult to all hard working teachers, nurses and unemployed. Almost 200K to manage a village.

What a waste of money. How is it that every little town in Marin can afford to pay City Managers over $200,000 in salary including health insurance and pensions. No wonder there is no money to run the cities. What is the matter here we need to consolidate the services. One Manager could easily oversee Mill Valley, Sausalito, Tiburon and Belvedere. Same for Fire and Police. It is time to change. Same for the school districts less high paid managers more teachers!

Lets wish Mr. McCann well. In these "difficult times", it's hard to get excited about "cutting" $400,000 from a $25 Million annual budget. Let's see---that works out to about 1.6%.

Surely, there's more that can---and must---be done.

Some of the "pie-in-the-sky" expenditures for various "beautification" etc ideas should be surgically examined---and perhaps something like zero-based-budgeting would be a novel and desireable approach.

Let's get our $200,000 per year worth!

To cut 1.6% of $25 million..what a great problem to have...would be interesting to know how much 5-10% salary cut (average real net cut of SV companies) of all city workers would come out to...1million?
