I agree that "A Good Year" didn't work, but I really thought Bottle Shock delivered the goods and then some. I think it had a great balance of internal drama / struggle for the people involved and the showcasing of the larger historic struggle of getting California wine on the scene. A group in crisis in a crisis :). Of course, this is a comedy, and the most important thing is that it keeps you laughing throughout. This does that in spades. I'll be buying the DVD. A lot of good reviews out there too (Ebert, USA Today, NY Post, Rolling Stone). This ones worth seeing on the big screen though, not only for those INCREDIBLE sweeping shots of California wine country, but the cinematography over all. Whoever shot this is a painter.

Bottle shock is such a terrible disappoint--corny made for tv. My husband and I met and dined with Steven spurrier--he is kind, thoughtful and unpretentious. Why depict him as a snob and a jerk. Watch the son Bo was very hard because he is so ugly and such a bad actor.
