North of the Delta almond orchardists use half as much water as sited. People who want to take our water always use the figures for the San Joaquin and south where rain water does not irrigate their orchards like rain does up here. Northern CA groundwater should not be used to perpetuate one of the greatest modern hoaxes - bottled water. Groundwater should be used on overlying lands.

Sierra Nevada brewery uses lots of water, and also happens to be a major employer. Orland needs the jobs big time. The real solution to the water shortage is desalination in the desert areas, such as LA and San Diego. That way we can keep more water up here.

Gee, why don't we run them out of town like every other company that wants to do business in the north state? Maybe they can move their production to china?

So just how many jobs are created? I didn't see any figure in the story. Orland needs the revenue from the private sector. It's housing marker is the worst. But what good will this be if it is only another line of money for the government division of waste and fraud? Bring a form of capitalism back to the area that creates jobs.

I totally agree. The water belongs to California and no new rights to water in the North State should be granted. Already, there is more water given away in water rights than there is actual water available, even in a good year.

Testing should test for sustainability, not viability. If it is viable now, it may not be viable after even a decade of bottling. What water we have should be for farming the food we need here, not for exporting.

The water company may be a local company now, but it could be sold to an international company. Californians need to be very careful not to lose rights over our own water. Northern Californians need to be very careful not to lose rights over our own water.

Orland should not have the right, if it does, to give away water rights to a company that will export water.

I totally agree! The Forty-Niners had the Gold Rush; and we today have the Water Rush, including a new kind of claim jumper.

North Glenn County water is crap anyway. The City of Orland is always having to relase nitrate and poop-in-the-water warnings. So now you know folks more about that bottled water you pay the big bucks for.

SNB, a locally owned company, produces a product as environmentally as you can, and employees tons of people. Callistoga induces people to buy bottled water in plastic. Every step in bottling water is destructive from the stealing water from poor areas to the landfill.

Hear, hear! Thanks for setting that straight, Farmer.
