RANCHO CUCAMONGA - An Upland woman was sentenced to seven years in state prison Wednesday for stabbing her husband to death with a sword.
Naomi Valdivia, 35, maintained she acted in self-defense when 36-year-old Jose Luis Gonzales was killed on April 26, 2008, in the 800 block of West Orchid Court.
Though Valdivia believed she was innocent, the mother of five opted to plead no contest to voluntary manslaughter last month to avoid a potentially longer prison sentence if convicted of murder, her sister said.
On Wednesday in West Valley Superior Court, Judge Shahla S. Sabet sentenced Valdivia to the seven years in state prison, said Deputy District Attorney Nancy Cooper.
I think she had a bad lawyer.

Actually my mother was beatin almost every other day during our lives with and by her innocent helpless husband, who was "stabbed to death". You all should be ashamed with your filthy comnents. She has had a gun pointed at her head by him, she has had drinks thrown at her. She was shoved to the wall and left unconcious, she has had her leg sprained by him, she was called filthy names by him in front of all her kids, he drove recklessly with my mom, me and my younger siblings in the car, he threatened my younger brother who was 7 years old at the time. She was beaten, blood on the walls and carpet, bruised face the night of the "murder". He came at her with the sword and she struggled to keep it from stabbing her. Ok it was an act of self defense, before you start blathering and making comments about situations that have nothing to do with you, make sure you have all your facts gathered to support your comments and thoughts.

<quoted text>fact iwas locked up with her but my case was dismissed. i had to fight cause they did make a mistake, and i won. but i was close where she did confine in me. i didnt say her son did it on his own i said helped her. maybe thats why she pleaed out cause she did want to put her family thur anymore grief. she has found peace. thats great. but she still has those nightmares. i pray for her and her family to be at peace and they will. For your info she not doing the whole 7years. anyways its not important to me. So this is the last time you will hear from me. Its just a sad story for anyone to repeat.
