It’s sad to drive by the parking lot at the schools to see new Mercedes SUV parked in the teachers parking lot. It makes you wonder what are we paying these teachers? I have always been for taxes to support our education here in GA but this blatant show of gluttony really makes me take a second thought about what we are paying them.

You people are stupid. Teachers are underpaid. If they have a Mercedes it is because they know how to budget there money, Maybe they don't eat out, or buy alcohol. Dang if you worried about yourself and not other people things would be better. Get yourself a life and grow up.

If you think teachers make too much money, then you are an ignorant fool. If you want to know how much they make google "georgia teachers pay schedule". After you look at it and if you still think that's a lot of money then you probably never went to college and you work at Wal-Mart.

Well, if you calculate their union pention in they make a huge amount of money over a lifetime just like goverment workers..........they should be willing to get a pay cut to offset the tax losses.

You go in a classroom and deal with 30 kids everyday and see how much you think you should get paid. Not to mention the amount of money these teachers have paid out on their on educations. You people who say this make me sick. Besides they are educating YOUR children.... like I said before Get a Life and quit worrying about everyone else.

Well, if you have not seen your property value go down or loss of a job then you need to say yes to the high teachers pay.

Look the teachers are a union and just like GM they are the reason for the poor test scores and lousy graduation rates in GA. We need to break the teachers union and their lifetime jobs.

Who are you to tell someone how much money they should make?
I know its our money and should be handled better. The way to cut taxes is better money management
Worry about what you make--not what someone else makes.
No,I am not a teacher and I do not work for the school system.

I am not a teacher, but I work for the county. I drive a corvette. But not one penny of county money paid for it. My husband bought it for me. I do not make enough to pay the insurance on it.So im sure the teachers have working husbands.

The reason for poor test scores and lousy graduation rates anywhere is because of a lack of parent participation, control and motivation. If your children are motivated no one teacher or school system can keep them down. As parents we should never have anyone else responsible for our children's future. I raised two daughters with a lower middle income and with motivation from me they both graduated from college. If you don't like the way things are done then go to college and become a teacher yourself.

You said that so well.Parents and students do not take school serious. The girls are out of control.Just look at the threads on here "Single girls" and the ones on illigitiment children. They will not go to school, they get pregnant, have kids, the tax payers pay for every thing, then the state will PAY them to go back to school while working people are feeding and housing them and their kids. Then they are partying, look under "Drug arrest".Since they are too sorry to work, who is buying the drugs and alcohol, then who pays the fines? Could it be us taxpayers again?Thats my vent for the day.

Often, teachers are married. You do not know what the teacher's spouse does for a living which allows them to purchase a luxary automobile. What bothers me are individuals who collect money from the government who do not work who drive luxary cars.

What union? Teachers do not have a union - you people are crazy- volunteer for a day from start to finish instead of just an hour or so during a party in your child's classroom - then ask why teachers are underpaid!! and overworked!!! By the way that Mercedes SUV you saw in the parking lot belonged to a student whose parents bought it for them, then they cheated the school by not buying a parking permit and sneaked into the teacher parking lot!!

Have you ever stopped to think that those expensive cars belong to those with spouses who make money. I am a teacher an barely make enough money to pay my bills. If I had a child (I'm single), I would qualify for food stamps and welfare. A first year teacher only makes around $35,000 a year. National stastistics say that a person who has a 4 year college degree average around $50,000 a year. My brother is a driver for UPS (and only has a high school degree) averages around $85,000 dollars a year. Get a grip on reality folks. Most of you probably make more than me a year. Even those who work at McDonald's make more than me. I live alone and barely have enough money to buy groceries. I bust my butt every day simply because I enjoy what I do. How many of you can say that!
