am COMPLETELY outraged by an incident that I witnessed last night at the Gordon Hospital ER. Friday night at aproximatly 9pm A young woman and her mother bring her sister into the ER complaining of severe stomach pain and nausea. Apparently the ER clerk knew the sister who was bringing in her SICK sister and had a few WORDS for her ACROSS the ER room for ALL of us to hear! Seems its a domestic issue regarding the sister's husband and HIS ex wife. Seems this ER clerk didnt have a professional bone in her body and proceeded to slander the girls husband right there for EVERYONE to hear. The "guard" standing with the unprofessional just stood there and LET her speak to these people this way! They took it with grace and dignity. I suppose not ALL people are as ill mannered and animalistic as others. This lil ER girl was CLEARLY a bully. She was CLEARLY on the clock and she Was CLEARLY heard by all speaking obscenities and ill will of that family. All while they tried to care for their sick loved one who was by their side!
I think that Mr. Layson should investigate this incident and fire this girl for her unethical and uncaring practice. Is THIS what Go Hosp needs representing them? I most definately think not!! Go Hospital is responsible for what their employees do and how they conduct themselves while on the clock. This girl obviously is not mature enough or responsible enough to hold such a job !

Thats disgusting! No matter the personal problems the clerk had, she was at work! She had no right behaving that way. The guard should have stopped it, and probably would have had it been the patients escort that started the altercation! I hope you filed a complaint!

I would encourage anyone with a bad experience to take the issue to Administration for investigation. There are alot of employees here that strive to provide the best patient care possible. If we don't know what is broken we can't fix it.

As with any company you always have a bad seed. Please always let the adminsration of Gordon Hospital know how you feel. They actually have suggestion cards around the hospital for comments. Good or Bad!!! Let the employees that do a good job know that you appreciate them. And let those bad employees directors know by contacting the administration office. It is really nice to have good care so close to home.

I am very displeased with all of the hospitals standings. They are to be here to help the sick. But what my family has found out is they are here to just get paid and to do only and only what a private hospital allowes them to do. I have lived in Gordon County for over 30 years, I believe it is time for a New Hospital not Privately owned. Other Cities have more then one so why not Calhoun. I will go to Floyd ,for better care and more caring people.I like people who really care about my families health.

We have heard simmilar complaints about the hospital in Gordon County. We had our child born in Cartersville spacifically due to the poor repritation of the hospital in Gordon with children. We have heard stories about how the hispanics are lined up outside the building and how you have long waits for service besides rude personell like Ms. Massingill which used ratially exsplicit words to a customer and nothing was done.

About a month ago my 2 1/2 year old daughter became very ill when we were heading home to Canada from our vacation in Florida. I have nothing but nice things to say about Gordon Hospital and the staff that were working there. They got us into a room right away and the nurses were very diligent at their job. I really appreciated their caring nature and the nurses ability to comfort my entire family during this stressful ordeal.

Don't bad mouth all the staff because of 1 ignorant person!!!!!

As for investigation: In a case of 'he did/she did', are there surveillance cameras in ER examining rooms and/or x-ray rooms, or is it just a matter of who gets believed?

My Mother went to gordon ER in a severe panic attack after the passing of her beloved brother. They thought she was "med seeking" or trying to get drugs (WHICH SHE WAS NOT..she was so greif stricken) and they were soooo insensitive!!They did nothing and sent her home. I went off. I told the PA on duty off and the little smart-alic girls at the desk off too!

I have been trying for 6 plus months to schedule an interview with Gordon Hospital I would love any assistance that can be provided. I am new to Calhoun, GA and I have ten years in Medical billing/collections. The problem is my contacts are in the Atlanta area and not Calhoun. I would appreciate any asssistance. I am also really sadden to hear of hospital staff acting that way towards a patient. Don't they realize that is a HIPAA violation! Geez, don't people have any respect for themselves.

You won't EVEN get an interview with anyone at Gordon Hospital unless you are Adventist and part of the CULT. They only want employees that will give a cut of their salary to the so-called "church" which is really a front for the SDA corporation. It's not a religion- it's a business only pretending to be a church so they they don't have to pay any taxes. The IRS and the Dept. of Labor should investigate them for tax evasion and employment descrimination based on religion. If you don't believe me just go through and see what percentage of their staff are SDA.

I have had MANY experiences with gordon hospital. Many have been unpleasant! I went in about 2 yrs ago with a staph infection on my wrist which was brought home by a child from locker rooms at school. The dr came in and looked at it told me it was staph perscribed antibiotics. I asked him several times to try and drain it because it was so painful and I to hold my arm up it throbed so bad. He told me nothing was in it everytime. When the discharge nurse came in she handed me a paper on clogged pores or boils. I told her that was not what the dr told me it was and I needed the proper diagnoses for excuse from work. The dr came back into the room (not happy)told me he would have to culture it but since it wasn't draing it would not show anything most likely. Three days later I went to my dr and he looked and it said oh my! He did lance it and yes there was alot of drainage sent it off and told me if I hadn't came back in when I did I would have ended up in the or!! Guess what it was MRSA!!!! I DID REPORT THIS AND NO ONE EVER GOT BACK TO ME!! They can do all of the renovations and adding on but until there is new management it will not help gordon hospital. They have THE WORST REP OF ANY HOSPITAL i've ever heard. when will enough be enough and someone take charge and do something.

I'm sorry to hear about complaints at Gordon Hospital. My husband was just in there for 10 days with a ruptured disk and was in alot of pain. I had to call 911 and the paramedics were very professional and the OR dr and nurses were great. They realized he was in pain and helped with that immediately and then contacted his dr and had him admitted. The drs and nurses and techs on the floor were so nice and helpful and sympathetic. We were in the older section and they were renovating but it did not disturb us at all. I know that there are problems in every hospital or business and it should be taken to the administration so they can handle it and continue to make Gordon Hospital one our county can be proud of.

As a life long resident of Gordon County I can attest to the fact that the SDA hospital is more concerned with their money than their care! They love the bait and switch scam as well. Recently, I had a CT done on my lower back after surgery and was required to sign a payment agreement stating the I would need to pay 150 dollars for what my insurance didn't cover. I had no problem with that, until I received a bill for 300 dollars. The same thing happened with my wife last year.
As for care a couple of years ago a female friend of mine went there with shortness of breath and chest pains. They diagnosed her with panic/anxiety disorder and gave her sedatives and told her to seek mental health care. A couple weeks later her private doctor saw something on her ECG and referred her to a cardiologist. She died in her sleep a week before she made that appointment :( of advanced congestive heart failure. The idiots at GCH didn't know that a heart condition could trigger the fight/flight response and completely misdiagnosed her. I could go on since I have many friends who have also lost loved ones there over my 52 years in Gordon County. If you appear to be able to pay you will be treated well even if misdiagnosed. However, if you don't forget it they will do as little as possible before hurrying you out the door.

We are not is the business of loosing money. Our first responsibility is the financial well being of the SDA church, and its various health care institutions. Corporate viability is paramount especially in these financially difficult times.
