Latest issue of Calhoun Times dubs this man a "hero".....the only reason officer Thompson checked out this car that didn't "look right" as he states is because he's a manhunt to harass and accuse every teen & young adult of drinking, drugging, and vandalism. This officer has a issue with harassment of young people. He uses lies and is anything but a "hero"
My advice to fellow citizens is if this officer ever stops you or responds to a call be VERY careful what you say. He twists words. He lies. He is a poor excuse of an honorable cop!

Thank you "concerned". The city police are on a mission to harass as many as possible and generate revenue for the city. The side of the police cars should read "to harass & arrest". People need to get informed and make these police abide by the law!

Sounds like someone is blaming the police for their kid getting caught! Remember how much the police suck next time you need them.

Would you want a police record for your child at 17 for petty things that were not considered a jail offense back 20 years ago!? I do have to say that I have witnessed some harassment of teens and young people, for the tiniest things, that didn't require taking them to jail. Does it make it better to give them a jail record at such a young age!!? We aren't talking robbery, rape or murder here. The city police harrsss young and old. Not sure if this is the young boy you're talking about who was getting his paycheck out of the ATM
After work!????

I'm quite sure you're a cop:) I am all for people who deserve to go to jail. What I don't agree with, is that so many children at the ages of 17-22 are going to jail for offenses that are no harm to anyone other than themselves! That is the parents job. And people wonder why the parents don't discipline more. These kids lives are ruined at such a young age for mistakes or goofy things they do. I know plenty of officers who done drugs when they were younger and fought and drank underage. Give these kids a positive role model, not a jail record! As long as they don't hurt anyone or anyones property!

I think the Officers have to start analyzing some of these young people, before acting to quickly by throwing them in jail. Our communities are supposed to protect our young people, not give them a life long burden of a criminal record, which affect their future! Who is the same person now, that they were at those young ages? If the crime is severe, and another person is harmed, then that's a different scenario. Don't arrest them for little things, because it teaches disrespect of law enforcement and authority later in life. How would any officer want their child to be treated?

Tell your son to quit prostituting himself and the police will stop bothering him.

If you don't like the laws applying to your little runts, vote in people to change the laws. Quit expecting the police to raise your children.

Just because you had the rare ability to spread your legs and get pregnant, does not make you an expert on law enforcement. Stupid, STUPID parents.

So the police should let underage drinkers go if they are 17-22 just so they don't have a criminal record? What does that teach them? Think about this an 18 year old goes to a party, gets drunk, gets caught, and the cops let him go. The next weekend your child gets in the car with the same kid that now thinks he is going to get another slap on the wrist if he gets caught. You get a call at 1 am that your perfect little Johnny just got cut out of a car because of some drunk 18yo driver thought I will get out of it again. Johnny didnt survive by the way.

Hey nobody....the CPD harrass more than they protect. Check out the jail listings.....or better yet go sit in city court sometime and add up how much money is being collected for petty things....window tinting, loud mufflers, music etc. all ordnance violations which come with a hefty fine. Call them with real crime and if there's no money in it for them, guess what?? No arrest! I suggest "nobody" that you educate yourself before you conclude the post is entirely about teens.
Really if you are from Rome as you state under your name what's it to you anyway?? if you don't live in calhoun or pay city taxes to support the salary of these city police then pipe down jerk:)

I don't know why it says rome I am in Calhoun for starters. Second I have sat in court and I know that the city judge dismisses more that they prosecute. If u have a problem with the police why don't you go to the chief and state your problem instead of bashing them on the Internet. One day you will need the police and you will be begging for their help, everyone calls 911 sometime in their life.

First, My children haven't been in any trouble with the police. Secondly not all police officers are out for blood and lastly I have needed the help of law enforcement and been very pleased. There are however some police that do racially profile. It's like anything else- there's good & bad. Hopefully you will not ever experience the negative side......... But be aware, profiling does occur. It's no wonder with some of the attitudes expressed on this site about our young people, why there is such defiance of authority in our communities & our nation. Attitudes like this lead to such tragedies as columbine & sandy hook. Sad:(

Does this not say "the city police" sounds like you are talking about all of them. You might want to read back at some of your own posts before speaking about what others have posted. I think they have a hard enough job without some soccer mom like you whining on the Internet about how bad they are. What do you do for a living if anything I'm sure you have not made every person pleased that you have came into contact with. Besides you said your kids have not been in any trouble than why are you on here whining about it for then.

Who needs the cops when their kids are unruly?? That's the parents job, not the police! They need to stay out of family matters! Cops stick their noses in stuff and they shouldn't. Parents need to dicipline not cops
