Harassment by Rockdale Police Department

Is there any one out there that is getting harassed by the rockdale police department without cause?

Do you feel the rockdale municipal court is fair?

Do you feel that there is favortism toward certain citizens of rockdale by the police?

Do you feel the rockdale police department is doing its job fairly?

Should there be a new chief?

Re #3- We moved here in 2007 from the very beginning our next door neighbor, an established Rockdale resident, called police on us as we were unloading our furniture telling police we were in possession of a vicious dog who happens to be afraid of her own shadow. Which we proved to the police, as the dog sat and wagged her tail at him.

This person repeatedly calls police on us for nothing. and has installed close circuit television cameras that move about and follow us when we walk across our property outside. When we are inside, the cameras point directly into our windows.
The harassment continues,in spite of us calling the police to report this harassment by not only him, but his group of friends who congregate in his back yard and stare into our house.
The Rockdale police department totally takes his side and will do nothing to remedy this situation.

Pete, Sounds like you got neighbors like we have. The reason the police probably won't do nothing is because this neighbor either knows some big shot in rockdale or knows the chief and his family.

If you call the police on this neighbor to many times they will tag you as "the trouble maker" and you will be harassed by the police. We know by experience.

In response to Rockdale Problem you have to look at some different facts before you can say that the reason for the way the City of Rockdale is based on the Police Department.
Perhaps first the biggest problem is the economy in Rockdale. It couldn't be the fact that the community was almost entirely based upon a wealth that came from a power plant that was recently shutdown with huge layoffs, causing the community to seek employment elsewhere or drive them to criminal activities. This prescribes internal and external problems yes? So I dont really think that there are BIG shots or SMALL shots anymore. If you live in Rockdale you live in a bedroom community.
Now if you see an officer and you took the time to look at what kind of vehicle he is driving you must have a personal problem with the officer and the department. A lot of people have bad experiences with the Police so JOIN THE CLUB.
I read the paper and I understand that the police in this community continue to deal with the same people, this is proven by the names and address that are continuously the same leading to arrests; you can look at the jail login the newspaper or request an open record, this is all public information. Maybe you would like to join the millions of people in third world countries that have REAL problems with the police.

This doesn't have nothing to do with the economy but I will say, no matter how big or how small rockdale gets, there will be always big money that will influence how things are run and how certain people are treated in this town. The third world don't have nothing to do with the immediate problem in THIS town.

The higher ups in this County are greedy, The Judge raised our Tax's and lost the Election. Hopefully the new Judge will fix the problem's. Sense the Tea Partiers are behind him. Be very careful what you say. Remain anonymous. That is a very corrupt and and dangerous local PD that is completely out of control. Nothing wrong with the people there, just a viscious, malicious group of individuals including the "judiciary". There is no limit, and there is no shame. I do not think ther is a single individual that is honest, and you will find no integrity there. Avoid law enforcement in City limits.
If the find out you post here, it will no go well for you.

I used to visit Rockdale & read the Reporter every week. I loved this little town. It saddens me to see it has come to this. I will admit, I always thought Milam County was easy on sex offenders. If you are a sex offender or child molester, Rockdale is the place to be. I realize the hardships that Alcoa put on this town but I was not surprised. Alcoa in Milam and Dell in Williamson, it is truly a shame. I hope the good people I met and read about in Rockdale will win out. My heart goes out to you all, good luck.

well i will say. im not in rockdale but obviously living in its twin twilight town... Lodi, ca. weve alway been good citizens until problems with certaian individuals. had to make numerous police reports. nothingh done except laughs and smerks behind our back. so told them we were going to take matters in our own hands. so we did. and now. you guessed it. the police harassment begins. been over a year and my husband been arressted 3 times with no background and I GOT PARKED OVER WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE AND A TOWED VEHICLE. AND PARKED POLICE CARS KINDLY PARKING OUTSIDE OUR HOUSE HOURS ON END. SO WELCOME TO STUCK IN LODI AGAIN.....

This is the address to send your complaint and copies of pictures, documents, etc. to ask to remove the officer's license. Too many complaints like this and TCLEOSE must do something. Just one good, well documented complaint will do. Times have changed so make your complaint known. Document the times you notice the officer parked, say 1:40 AM to 2:45 AM on such and such date.

When you see a police officer parked for long periods of time, go walking by and talk to the officer. Get the name, badge #, and tell the officer you were checking to make sure he/she is ok since you noticed the vehicle there for some time. Document how long the officer is parked, and if you can get pictures (do not use a flash) but do not get the officer's attention when you take pictures. Do not aggrevate the officer. Just document what you see. Have others do the same.

Be vigilant,keep a watchful eye, alert. Do not be vigilante, violent, without recourse to lawful procedure .

If I recall correctly, a Round Rock police officer was fired in 2009 or 2010. The officer parked for periods of time to watch pornography on the city issued laptop, city internet, using city time while on duty.

I have lived in Rockdale Tex.sense the 5th grade in 1980.Went to high school,even married from there.Still today March 23,2012 still live in Rockdale.As for the police always been fair,any charge I received I earned.
Except for the last one ,DISORDERLY CONDUCT/DISPLAY OF FIREARM WITH INTENT TO ALARM.
BULLCORN!!!! The firearm was brought for protection from a DANGEROUS DOG ATTACK TO A ANIMAL. As we know under the VERNONS TEXAS STATUTES.DANGEROUS DOGS OR COYOTE ATTACKING ANIMALS. We who own,witnessing,actor on be half of owner of animal being attacked can kill the dog or coyote. Not to mention many self defense laws too.
Here is the run down quickly.Neighbor brought in a dangerous dog.(pitbull) In one month its attacked my basset hound twice.Gotten away from care taker ,one time jumping a dog being walked on leach,and running at child across the street scaring the child and mother. 3/12/12 The dog attacked mine only feet from a four year old child.I went to get gun to protect from this dog.owner got dog away ,I called police.After coming back in house .Being dog was in their house,told them this was last one.
Went in house called Rockdale police,officer arrived. During running lic. checking for warrants the dog attacked officer and owner fled.They still looking for him.Want they just follow his girlfriend!!!!She called the police for a couple days bitching about the gun.After 2 days she finally got one that would do a statement.Not the officer that came to house on the last attack,but one with no clue only her statement.He got warrant and arrested me all with in couple hours.You wouldnt beleave some of the answer to the easy questions..The officer that showed up when I called has been off work and is off work tell the 26 of march.Wonder why?
Got attorney ,he plus the local paper say it most likely want go to trial.I hope it does,and hope the dog owner and lady that made statement know what a civil suit is.The freaking police got this TEXAS TORT CLAIM ACT they hide behind.

Cant believe the dog bit a officer and was not taken and put down,, In the county I live that would happen with no questions ask,And then the OWNERS would have went to Jail,We went though a Police Dept turning on the very people that they work for ,it was a long hard battle ,but the people won,,,,It started with the election of City Council members,then a New Cheif, One that was not from this town,So when he came to town He didnt have any FRIENDS are Family here,.Today I am Happy to say, we have a great Police Dept,,,,That Truly works for the poeple who pays them...BUT Again it was a long HARD battle, that STARTED with ELECTIONS.GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS...
