Get an alarm, and a dog or two... The criminals will usually go to some other house without them.

Master padlock also has a Bump Stop Lock System. Search it for your self at Master Lock Bump Stop. Much more affordable than other systems. Not all Master products have Bump Stop.

I think this is how it usually works:
1. crooks figure out a new angle,
2. public gets educated, takes new precautions
3. repeat #1
I'm glad I know about it, how 'bout you?

I have a bump lock stopper too... Its called a Heckler and Koch! There is a jacketed 9mm hollow point with any potential burglars name on it.

I was thinking the same thing!!! I never heard of this and now others now like me. All they need to do now is tell the very place to get one or how to make one.

It works, last summer I unlocked my storage building and discovered missing tools, chainsaws, weedeaters, ect. The master lock was in place & no sign of cutting, looking on the internet I found few options in locks that were bump resistant. In that TNT was already installed on the house they came out and put a wireless contact on the storage building so that it's part of the alarm system as well. In 22 yrs living up north I was never broke into, my stuff was in a outbuilding that didn't even have a door... in my 4th yr in southwest Tulsa my locked outbuilding is burglarized. Oh well, live-n-learn.

trust me, the criminals already knew about this long before this story. Chances are you didn't, so know you can secure your house better

Great article KOTV...this is the kind of stuff we need to know about...Thank You....

that is so scary....the one thing that keeps our neighborhood safe is our elderly neighbors...they keep an eye out and call us if there is any weird crap going on...one of my neighbors called to say there was a guy leaving flyers on the door (supposedly) and was really knocking on the door or ringing the doorbell and then jiggling the doorknob to see if the door was open...we decided to call the police...

i slammed my front door after locking the doorknob lock and was getting ready to lock the deadbolt and realized i left my keys in the house...i called a locksmith and it took the guy 20 or 30 minutes and this little gun thingy to unlock the door...and $60 bucks...

this is a very frightening aspect to think someone can "bump" your lock open...i guess i need to look into changing the locks or getting a "bump stopper"...

And as far as a gun goes...you have to be home in order to use it...if you are at work and someone breaks into your home then what...i know our security company used to call us if our alarm went off now we never hear from them...i guess if your in India you really can't be that concerned about a house in America...(Yes I just had to say it!!!)

That's funny. For those criminals who might now have known about this process, here's a complete and thorough "how-to" demonstration for your reading pleasure!

Oh this was a great article. You effectively just shared this information with tons of criminals and effectively told them where to find that information. Have higher standards of writing for yourself. It took me 30 seconds to find a tutorial. At least I can get into my home if im locked out I guess.

I for one am glad to know that criminals can do this, I had no idea. If you know that this is out there you have a chance to do something about it. Criminals are going to find out about this with or without this story so get off their backs! We need to know what the criminals know so we can better protect ourselves!
