Sounds like your second opinion was a dud. Try another doctor. If you haven't already go to a neurologist. Request an MRI, or whatever else to try to find the answers. Make sure your second opinion works for a different clinic or office.

I went to a lot of different doctors about my migraines. Right now I go to 4 different ones,(different fields), to help manage them. It took about 20 years to narrow down the causes for my migraines. I hope you find relief soon.

I've noticed a change in mine. It usually happens at the same time I start to get really thirsty. I usually drink a lot of water and that helps a bit.

April: this is not a cure but will give you a little relief. Before your next attack stop by your local drug store and buy an ice pack. Get the largest size. When you have an attack fill it up with ice. I like to put some water in the ice pack and then drain it. This takes the sharp edges off the ice cubes. Dry it off and put a towel around it. Then take it to bed with you and put it wherever it hurts. I like to put the ice pack on my pillow and lay my head on top of it so that it is pressed against my head. I sleep with mine every night. I think it is my favorite treatment.
I don't know what medications you have tried but if you haven't tried one of the triptans like Imitrex then ask your doctor about it. These work much better on an empty stomach. Take the triptan, then have something to eat. It should not have any refined sugar so that it won't set off your blood sugar. Don't use any artificial sweetners especial aspartame (nutrisweet). If you are still hurting after you eat then take the pain meds and goto bed with your ice pack.

This is really good advice. I like the suggestion with the ice-pack. I will try that for my next one. Thank you for posting it!

TED, you mentioned about the sugar, I'm hypoglycemic and low sugars can sometimes trigger a migraine for me. It's amazing the different things that can trigger migraines for different people.
