Hey Slim, now you are walking on sacred ground.
DO NOT mess with my touchy, feely green life! Understand?
Now, Slim is not crazy and did not have a traumatic childhood. He did/does what any great marketing pro does. He needed to/wanted to get our attention and he certainly accomplished that as he always does when he uses this approach.
Beyond that, I can understand his frustration. He is, like my daughter, single, no kids, makes really good money, pays a bucket load of income taxes. Slim and my daughter, who also elected not to have kids, paid more than the average income of Cairo in taxes last year.
Then that person with kids not only pays far less, if any, taxes but gets money back from the government.
Something like 47% of the taxpayers in the US pay no income taxes. This is not sustainable. I just read GE paid no income taxes last year. This is not sustainable, either.
Someone has to start talking and 47% of the taxpayers are not going to want to hear it. The GEs of the country are not going to want to hear it either.
And Slim is right, Washington is not talking about it either.
My state just cut their budget by 3% each of the next 2 years. State workers' pay has been frozen for 3 years and will remain frozen for 2 more years. Illinois raised Slim's state income taxes by more than $ 4,000 this year and voted at the same time to increase spending by 2 or 2 1/2%.
Should Slim be pissed? Yes and at least he is bright enough to know it. Many of you will not figure it out until the gravy train derails and that is going to happen sooner rather than later.
Very accurate indeed. You'd make a great FBI profiler.

NOw let's talk about taxes, and income. It has always been my desire to pay $1 million dollars a year in income taxes Because, if I am paying one million a year, I am making a lot more than 1 mil. I have always believed that a society should be judged on how it treats those unable to care for themselves.

I for one do not desire to live in a society where there is an extremely small super rich upper class, with a large tremendously poor underclass. I know some of you are going to say this is socialist, but do you really want to live in a society, where the majority of people have no hope of bettering the position that they are born into in life.

It requires a balancing act between, providing for the unfortunate, and discouraging people to work I look around and I see a lot of unmotivated people, without any disability?? What is the answer?

The answer is complex and not easily solved. The concentration of wealth, in the hands of just a few, with the power to corrupt politicians, is a danger to this republic.

"The price of liberty, is eternal vigilance."

More to follow, got to go to work.

Apparently you have some rage and anger issues yourself. Over the past two years your president has managed to spend more money than Bush did throughout his entire eight years in office. As an excuse making Cairo sympathizer, I do understand your patterns of blame. I myself cross party lines where you'd return a crook like Charles Rangel back to office in a heart beat. Chicago and Cairo seem to share a pattern of crooks in office. Then when money begins to disappear and evaporate you find someone to blame other than yourself and the voters. Cairo seems to be in a situation now where they have a new mayor and know very little about him. I suppose that's the GOPs fault too. You say that farmers don't live in the real world as mentioned on another topic. I suggest that the next time you're cramming down a big mac and fries, consider where they came from. Perhaps you drive a Chevy Volt, have an organic garden, power your home with wind and solar, and live that touchy feely green life, who knows..........
Well, now you have gone and done it......let's talk about George Bush. First let's set the record correct about money. President Obama received a big inheritance from George Bush. When George took office the country stood at ZERO (0) debt, he started an uncalled for war, they placed Haliburton in charge of things, which means The Dick ($$$$$$$$$was running things. When the war started it was asked how was it going to be paid for? Guess what? They (George and the Dick ) stated it would be paid for from proceeds of the Iranians oil sales. Well by George not one cent (.01) has been collected from their oil sales. Before Bush left office he had sent more money than all the prior presidents combined together. The Bush and Cheney Adm. should be doing time now for Stealing the taxpayers money and lying about Weapons of Mass Destructions. They stole from Social Security, Civil Service , all of these programs are holding their piece of paper, IOU's. This is only some of the inheritance which Mr.President Obama was greeted with. I just wish that the slate was clean for him as it was was George Bush when he took office. Now, if you know anything about accounting do the math and you will find Mr. Obama, is doing very well with what was handed over to him. But I am sure 2+2 will equal (=) 2 for you. have a good blessed day.

Actually I don't give a damn what goes on in DC. I just pay my taxes and move on. I do know that over 40% of Americans pay no taxes at all !!! Our tax code is what I call a progressive disease. The top 10% of earners is already footing 70% of the bill. I say if they raise taxes on those making over 250K, then eliminate the earned income tax credit. That's nothing more than a giveaway and there's a ton of fraud in that program too. They never earned that income to begin with. It's merely an incentive to produce more unwanted criminals.

No, they are paying what they are required to pay. Just because so many are not making high enough wages to pay income taxes, doesn't mean the top 10% is paying for the others.

The did eliminate it. This is the last year for it.

A Flat Tax would make those who are not paying taxes, over 40 percent of the population, pay their fair share. Right now there are too many loopholes for those freeloaders the rest of us are carrying.
