Has anyone heard that PNC Bank has filed to "take over" Regions Bank? A bank employee told me this but I cant get any confirmation.

That wouldn't surprise me a bit. I don't think much of Regions but I still keep a little there for conveinience of the ATM when I need a few bucks.
Personally I like Scott Credit Union. Their customer service is very good and if you have a question about your account you can send them an email and get an answer back in a short time.
Try that with Regions or check the interest rates on a savings account with Regions.

The rumor mill states that PNC (based out of PA) is interested in Regions Bank.......primarily to obtain Regions Florida banking centers.......which would give PNC a presence all up and down the coast.
If you google Regions/PNC you can find the story.
Nothing is final, nothing has been filed at this point and employees have been given NO formal notification of a merger/buyout.

Is that surprising that the employees know nothing. There is a PNC Bank in Waterloo, wonder if they will become Regions or stay PNC?

Why would it change to regions? When you acquire a bank the acquired bank changes the name, so to answer your question all PNC's will stay the same. But if this acquisition goes through you can bet a lot of regions location will be divested.

When Regions Bank took over Magna Bank in Cahokia a few years back
I still used the Magna Bank checks that I had paid for and still can use them to write a check.
To me Regions is a stupid bank and they lost a lot of customers.
I changed over to online banking in 2006 and have never regreted doing that.
Other than using the ATM once in awhile or depositing a paycheck I don't fool with them anymore.

Let's hope someone (but maybe not a Canadian bank) buys Regions. It is a lousy bank that has dishonest, unethical, and inept management from Birmingham to St. Louis. They lie to their customers and to their employees.

Being acquired by strong bank like PNC or USB would be a good thing for every one of their customers and for the STL region.

Yeah, I've had issues with Regions myself. From their coin counting nachines ripping me off to their automated account systems giving wrong balance info, then they charge you an overdraft fee. Most banks are crappy now though. Credit unions do seem to function more fairly.

Yea, I dont like the fact they take your coins in the back to count them. How do you know they are giving you the correct amount.

Those coin machines mistake Anthony dollars for quarters. That's how they screw up sometimes.

Kind of hard to count when you have a large amount.
