I was reading an interesting article yesterday about new credit card fees that the merchants are now allowed to charge you.
Now they can charge you a fee just for using your credit card similar to the fee's for cash advance and it varies with the merchants.
From what I read as an example a $200.00 purchase could cost you $8.00 in fees and to me that is unacceptable but oddly enough I got a new credit card in the mail today that I never asked for.
I paid off every credit card I had about 4 years ago when the interest rates were going up.

I seldom use a credit card anymore but if they start that crap, I won't use it all. Seems to me they tried something similar to this several years ago and it didn't work.

It was illegal for a merchant to charge any fee to use a credit card instead of cash or a check. Discounts for cash was approved by the credit card companies though. It's all a Ponzi scheme. But lots of cards you get in the mail now are from companies not even licensed enough to offer them.

From what I read yesterday the vendors have to tell you in advance that there may be a fee for using your credit card and it's supposed to start Sunday.
The offer I got yesterday was from Discover and it included a new card but gave no details of the terms.
I really don't want it and won't activate the card.
I got one credit card and that's enough for me and they are not making any money from me on interest or fees.
What is really ironic is the interest rate they charge you if you make monthly payments and now the vendors want to get money from you too just for using the card.

I never could understand why someone would run a credit card up and not pay it off. If you charge like $2000 you end paying like %3000 for the stuff if you make the minimum payment. Alot of people run them up without having any intention of ever paying them. That is why the interest is so high I guess.

Businesses are charged everytime they take a credit card. I own a small business and every credit card transaction I take I pay 3% of the whole amount. I let the customer know I have to charge a few bucks to run the credit card. If they want to pay cash or check they won't be charged any extra.

They price of the purchase is what it is. Your a liar and no one would ever shop with you. The vendors pay the fees to keep customers coming back.

There is an article today on MSN about these charges on credit cards that are issued by Mastercard and Visa.
This information came from a very well known news group and the new rules do start on Jan. 27th.
They contacted many of the larger vendors such as Wal Mart, Sears and Home Depot and said they have no intentions of doing that for 2 reasons.
Number 1 is the fee that they are being charged now for taking those cards are already figured into the price of that item and it would be double dipping.
Number 2 is they don't want to loose business when people get angry over this and people will get
angry and will quit buying.

Pop's Girl, before you could ever get a credit card you must have a job history. Being a lot lizard at a truck stop doesn't mean much since you pay no taxes.
The Government is paying for you're AID's treatment along with all you're family members just trying to keep you assholes from spreading the disease. Stay home and die!!

I hear that those old truckers were bad about paying their credit card bills. They would get a tank of gas, then never pay the card. Of course the card companies had to raise fees etc to cover for deadbeats like that. Those old truckers like that are a disgrace to humanity
