WHATS UP WITH HAVING TO PAY CITY AND COUNTY TAXES WHEN YOU LIVE IN THE CITY LIMITS? 2 TAX BILLS ON OUR HOMES IS A RIPOFF. PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THE COUNTY ONLY PAY ONE TAX BILL SO WHY DO PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THE CITY PAY COUNTY TAXES?? WE ARE INSIDE THE CITY LIMITS NOT OUT IN THE COUNTY? ANYONE ELSE AGREE??

No. The city is in the county. City residents take advantage of things such as the ambulance service, recreation complex, and ag services

You pay an extra tax for the services you receive in the city like police, fire, street department, ect. We are a part of the county so we receive the county services as well... Everyone pays their part for services available...

AND WHY ARE SOME HOUSING SUBDIVISIONS NOT IN THE CITY LIMITS WHEN THEY RECEIVE CITY WATER? I KNOW OF A SUBDIVISION THAT THE HOMEOWNERS RECEIVE CITY WATER BUT ONLY PAY COUNTY TAXES ON THEIR HOMES? THIS CAME FROM A HOMEOWNERS MOUTH THAT RECEIVES CITY WATER BUT PAYS NO CITY TAXES ON THEIR HOME ONLY COUNTY TAXES??

you cant tell me that only city residents use the complex? as for ambulance how do we take advantage of it when we have to pay for the service out of pocket or if we have insurance they pay for it. SO PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW WE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE AMBULANCE SERVICE??and as for ag services im sure that not many people take advantage of ag services. im sure there are more people in the county using as services than city folks. walker you are wrong.

I never said ONLY city residents use the complex. But there are many who do.

City residents take advantage of the recycling center that is financed through the county, not the city.

The county provides some funds for the PACS programs, such as meals on wheels. I'm sure some of those stops are in the city.

The Senior Citizen Center is another entity funded through the county that city residents use.

The American Legion Swimming Pool? Financed by the American Legion? nope. The City? nope. How many city residents use the pool?

The sheriff's department is responsible for serving all court papers/summonses/warrants in the county, the city limits included.

I could keep going but I think I've made my point on county services city residents take advantage of.

A great question and i know someone who gets city water outside of the city limits. I think it had to do with the subdivision being In the city at one time or a promise from the developers to be annexed but the deal fell through. Either way the clients are paying a water bill to the city for that service.

my point is that if they are receiving city water then the city should be taxing their home as well as the county. if not cut off their water and let them catch rain water in a bucket. i dont care about annexing deal that fell through. POINT IS IF THEY ARE RECEIVING CITY WATER THEN THEY SHOULD PAY CITY TAXES ON THEIR HOME JUST AS THE REST IN CITY LIMITS DO. SOUNDS LIKE THE GOOD OLE BOYS CLUB is why the property was not annexed into the city limits. such a crock of ****. agree????

Oh i see. Well... The water department is sustained though the billing system and not the taxes for property. So if you are paying a water bill then you are paying for the service. So not that you don't have a valid point but it's a case of who is paying and for what. I think the two water department should merge if it would lower the bill some. Not so sure the good ole boy club is as prevalent as some might think...
