If he can't run a basketball program just think of what he could do to the county.. Just sayin.

He may not have to wait until the next election to become judge-executive. If Stan Humphries wins the race to become state senator he will have to resign as judge-executive. In that case Gov. Beshear will appoint someone to fill out Stan's term. Chances are a Democratic governor will appoint a Democrat. He will probably choose someone who is already an elected county official, most likely a magistrate. Mike Wright is the only magistrate that fits the bill.

I will personally write a letter to the governor recommending him, and I will put a copy in the Cadiz Record if they want to print it.

And, if Stan becomes state senator, I will vote for Mike in the next election too, seeing as how his opponent will most likely be Rick Nelson -- who I would not vote for to be garbage collector.

Exactly he runs it like basketball program we are in trouble. But apparently he has a lot of pull somewhere school wont let him go and they are scared when you address it. So as our judge ouch. Maybe he can our that in his column in sports section. Poor Guy so ate up with himself. At least if he becomes judge is life long dreams will come true. He will be in his own hall of fame. That's why he started it. Get the gym or gym floor named after him. Another thing he has campaigned about. Lastly as judge can you give yourself a winning basketball program??? Maybe Mr principal of trigg high can.be his secretary or something to poor Guy afraid of his own shador

Gov. Beshear might get a laugh out of it, but I am already drafting that letter. I just haven't decided whether to but "Dr." in front of my name or "PhD" after it when I sign the letter.

How about "dumb ass" in the middle in parentheses? That sounds better. And more fitting. Hoop hoop hoop!

Sorry we didn't have a chance to talk more. I respect your desire to be forthright. We'll leave things on the Internet, as you want.

I think we began our correspondence discussing the logistics of a trans-Iraqi mission to eliminate Iranian nuclear targets, if that rings a bell.

I told you they're are three candidates who would make better judge-executive than Mike Wright.

First, by your specification, would be Doug Taylor. He is a smart guy. He knows both government and business, and has been the most educated magistrate in the last twenty years. He was once elected magistrate and he is a registered democrat. He possesses a lot of business sense, and unlike Coach Wright, is devoid of ego. He's done more than coach a basketball team. He's also a state merit employee.

Second, and as good as the first, you should think about giving your letter to Donnie Holland. He's never been elected to anything, as far as I know, but he's whip-smart. You look at Trigg County Economic Development over the past 10 years, Donnie's name is on the bill. He got Benson, and he saved it by getting Transcraft. If that ain't economic development, I'll kick your @$$. I'd guess he's a republician, but I'd take him over Nelson any day.

Third, I'd ask you to consider Karl McCammond. He's sent a lot of things to the paper imploring the community to consider the fiscal future of Trigg County. He has a good business track record, and is a well-known philanthrapist in Cadiz.

Read about these guys. I know you don't like the powers that be. Think about education v. athletes. Leaders v. second-generation magistrates. Endorce a successor if Humphreys wins, but go on and endorce someone with half a brain, instead of a coach.

I had not thought about Doug Taylor, but he is a good choice. However, would he give up what he is doing to take what might turn out to be a short term appointment?

Donnie Holland would also fit the bill, but he is not an elected official -- and in cases like this governors almost always choose someone who already holds an elective office.

I don't know anything about Karl McCammond. In addition to not being an elected official already, he would almost certainly face a lot of opposition from the "native" crowd.

Several people have suggested Regina Wilkerson. She is qualified to do the job, and I would like to see her get a chance at doing it. But given the shall I say "social climate" in Trigg County, that would almost certainly hand the judge-executive's office to Nelson in the next election. I have still got a few spies in the Republican Party and they tell me that he is certainly eyeing it.

But it does not really matter who I write and recommend. I pull a string now and then for Trigg County, but I am not the successor to Smith Jr., nor do I want to be.

There's only one choice on each side and that's about it to succeed Judge Humphries. Doug Taylor for the democrats or Jon Goodwin for the republicans. Now, Doug would be crazy to leave his position with the Governor's office and Jon Goodwin from all indications will be the circuit court clerk after Nov 6th. After these 2 boys, it's pretty slim pickens, let's just face it.
As for Coach Wright; bless his heart, he'll never ever even make the short list for this position. Let's be real here.

How about John Vinson, he has very little to do these days?

I would hope that Jon Goodwin gets shut out in this election. I think he has enough of what he needs and couldn't handle more.

I'm sure he "Jon" has a plan. He will be there for the citizens of this community, unlike Pam the last 5 years. I heard him say that he only has a job at his family business that he will step away from to serve the people of Trigg county full time. Not take the salary and never show up like Pam until election year.

I think Hollis Alexander would make a great Judge Execytive.

Hollis might be able to do the job, but, again, he is not an elected official -- and the precedent in situations like this is for the governor to choose someone who is already an elected official. That means his choice will probably be limited to someone who is a magistrate or on the Cadiz city council.

Is this some sort of joke? Surely this isn't even a possibility. Wow! Wright is a full blown nut! A dreamer without a glimpse of a vision. The world will come to an end before this can happen.
