Cabool Fireworks Ban

So I had two Sigman officers come by in their squad car earlier to tell us about a supposed burn/fireworks ban. Our kid and her friends had sparklers in their hand on concrete and became public enemy number one. I read numerous places recently that there was NO burn ban or fireworks ban in Texas County and that city policy still stood allowing us to set our own fireworks off. I proceeded to call the PD and ask the lady that picked up when this burn ban went into effect and was told "last week sometime". The news sources I read were updated from the 29th on and all said the opposite. She then said afterwards that they were only notified about it yesterday, contradicting her earlier statement. She said it was in the Cabool paper, which I admit I did neglect to read and couldn't read it online because I don't have a "subscription". You would think that information such as a burn/fireworks ban would be gotten out to citizens of the town better than by one news source you have to buy to read. I understand a burn ban and I am not arguing that it is bad, but what got me mad is the way the two Sigman officers relayed the information in a rude manner like we were doing something we knew was wrong. I thought it was hilarious they saw it fit to both get out of the car to tell my wife to have our kid put her sparkler out like they were going to get attacked. Then they proceed to like I said, instead of talking like a normal human being going into "authority" mode, and not even acknowledging they just made a little kid cry by ruining her holiday with they information. The Sigman officers need to learn when to switch that BS authority tone off and speak with some compassion, the citizens that pay their salary are not their enemy.

I would also like to add that I talked to a firefighter in town yesterday or the day before about if there was a ban on fireworks in town. He said that there wasn't one. I'm not saying he should be the ultimate authority in this matter, but you would think a fire official would be one of the first to know about a burn/fireworks ban in town.

I heard about the burn ban on the radio yesterday and today. Didn'tknow if it also meant fireworks, but I guess that makes sense.

Yeah I was unfortunate enough not to hear anything about it, but I usually listen to my own music instead of the radio. That is also another thing, a lot of places from what I've read that have burn bans don't have fireworks bans, so that's confusing.

According to my wife's co-worker people near here were shooting off fireworks til around 10 PM and weren't confronted by city police once. She lives near Roberts Park.

So Cabool is not going to have a fireworks display at all this year? I saw in the paper that someone said that they were thinking about a Labor Day display, but that they thought it would be too dry then as well. How can they possibly predict what it is going to be like in September?!?!
