Just to make the parents aware of some things at riverside high school. Tell your children to talk to you about issues in the school. The administration at the school takes it upon themselves to administer there own rules and regulations that are not legal to or court system in WV. Please if your student has been suspended or has had any type of repercussions from there, investigate it don't let it go on there word cause there word is not legal at all trust me.

It's parents like you that are to blame for any problems that exist at Riverside High School. The administration and most teachers are very fair and always strive to do what is best for the school. If more parents would step up and provide discipline at home then the administrators at Riverside wouldn't be so busy with behavior problems. Quit blaming the school and take a look at yourself, quit enabling your kid! 95% of us students like and respect the adminstration!

Just to you. Your a student and not an adult so your opinion is valued but still can be altered, led, and waited. If you knew all of what students thought they did I would take your comment into consideration. But the fact of the matter is your opinion don't matter cause I was making a statement not a comment. If you had to deal with alot of the students that come through there you would understand when a 11th and 12th grade student can't read on a tenth grade level. The comment you also made about being a parent is not true cause I am not a parent but deal with kids from all schools everyday and the leadership at that school or lack there of is horrible.

Uhm, I also go to Riverside and you deffinetly have t backwards.. maybe 5% of students like and respect the administration but deffinetly not 95%.. The teachers need to pick and choose thier battles.. They're way too focused on little, petty things.. Maybe if they focused more on teaching thier students than punishing them, more people would graduate and the drop out rate wouldn't be so high..

Double standard at that school. Tchrs can talk and behave any way they want ,but students can't. They consider learning disordered kids as troyble mkrs. They talk about the kids to other kids. Half wouldn't still be tchn if they random drug tested.

its rediculous! I had a teacher my 10th grade year there (not going to mention any names) who would get aggravated at me if i asked her for help alot because i didn't understand the work.. I even tried to get tudoring, where I would go to her class long enough to get the assignment and then go to tudoring so they could help me with it, but she had to approve it first and she wouldn't approve it because "our class was small enough to get the help I need".. so needless to say I failed that class and had to retake it the following year.. and yes, you are very right.. probably more than half of the teachers would be fired if they random drug tested..

The male teachers there are pigs . One actually stalked me and got my number from another student ... He wasn't teaching there long but I was so thankful when he left . It's sad when you can't even be safe from the teachers.

I definitely. don't want my child thinking its ok to be gay its not
seriously

Well, I'm a parent and I have been standing in the office enough times to know they all talk about people like they are crap. The secretary hangs up on parents. My child has asked( maybe even from the same teacher mentioned above) about help with certain things in class and isn't given the time of day or a second thought about it. I agree they pick and choose there battles,Being gay is that persons business, BUT, when My child is sent home or made to change at school because the straps on her shirt are not covering her whole shoulder then I have to complain because for one, there is a dress code for the schools. Boys will wear boys clothes, girls will wear girls clothes. and it sickens me when I watched a boy my childs first year there, walk right into the office and all around the school with a skirt and dress shoes on. Girls wearing short shorts, and tops that barely fit. But Im guessing those are the teachers pets or they have some use for them or else they wouldn't get away with it either. My self agree with the idea of having them drug tested. Why not? They are in a position where they are teaching and looking after hundreds of kids everyday, one would think that they would need to be clear headed and alert in case of emergencies. Our children are subject to random drug sniffing dogs to make sure they aren't keeping any in there lockers, and I for one don't see anything wrong with it, why shouldn't the teachers as well? One of the most important jobs where children are involved and no one has seen fit to make random drug testing mandatory for teachers? Look at the recent events of the faculty member arrested for assault then charged for having pills in her purse. And she was responsible for a special needs child to beat it all. I know her from way back and it really didn't surprise me she was into that stuff, but surprised me she was in the position she was in. I don't like the school, they don't have it all together, kids are failing and falling through the cracks because you have teachers who could care less. You know what's wrong with schools these days?? Government is all up its butt and the parents too. Good parents who want there kids to succeed and do well in life get threatened for being a good parent. They want to control everything, for instance, I have been teaching my child responsibility for things. She wants a cell phone, she pays for it, but she also has to keep her grades up and attend school in order to even have the privalage. So she does the responsible thing and puts in an application for a part time job (which I support) After school for some extra money for other things she wants, what happens? The school found out and jumped all over her because she didn't ask them first if she could get a job?!!?! i DO BELIEVE iM STILL THE PARENT HERE she does what she is suppose to at school and at home it's my area. They need to get a grip on there teachers and the major problems they have there instead of worrying about what the kids are or are not doing when not at school, it;s none of there business period. And I tell them where to stick it every chance I get!

The posts by students on this thread is proof to the lack of education actually happening at RHS.

The posts by parents on this thread is proof that education isn't happening at home either.

The blame lies with EVERYONE!!

The students need to apply themselves and try, instead of worrying about dressing to impress, and showing off for their friends instead of conducting themselves in a heathen fashion.

The parents need stop defending the behavior of their children, and stop inventing "behavior disorders" to justify it!! Teach these kids how to behave & respect the authority of the teachers & administration.

Maybe if the students & parents could get themselves straight, the teachers & administration would come off as being so evil.

smart kids get adequate support
behavioral problems get needed attention

If you are a mediocre student no support

I now see parents are a pain in the neck, never saw it so bad. How can you stick up for a problem child causing problems, how dare you question the teacher and admin because your child is out of control...
