I am tired of hearing about NIU not being safe for African Americans. Has anyone taken a look at the police blotter here on Campus? All I see are WHITE people being mugged, not Blacks. How about last year during homecoming when a white person was almost beaten to death by a group of blacks, where was all the media then? Lets use some common sense here and just move on with our lives and not blow this thing out of proportion. We should all be cautious but lets not extend the racial issue just because one idiot wrote something very very wrong.

Nice little transition towards a racism issue. It took me off guard because I do not see the African American community really showing any anger or fear prior to this event. The speaker said it has been going on since the start of school, but the school paper does not speak of racism issues, nor do we see any programs raising the issue of blacks being targetted by the school. I see programs issuing the concerns of black stereotypes in the media more often.
Rather than focusing on themselves, I think the school as a whole, as a student body, should be more united in the threat.
I do not think the president had to apologize for anything. The school has taken the proper measures thus far.
