Bob Knoer and Joel Rose, give it up already. Either crawl back under the rock from which you came or put your efforts towards something constructive.
The Casino is here to stay. Get used to it.

It doesn't matter if it is a casino, an amusement park, a shopping center, etc...people that live in this area ( white collar liberals ) can not stand to see this city try to develop itself. They want jobs to come, but just not in their backyard. Well, you can't have it both ways... If you want jobs, you need to allow for progress. Things need to move forward. This city is probably one of the worst in the country for job development ! No body wants to come here ! And can you blame them? The VERY SELECT FEW who live in this area and are doing well financially don't want the rest of us to possibilly find better jobs and move out of slum areas. They don't want to see city development unless it makes THEM and only THEM money ! these people cry and cry and say that a casino will only take money away from the locals "trying to get rich quick" and not attract tourists from other cities and my answer to that is....How dumb are you? ALL casino's attract a variety of customers from all over the place...I'm sure once it is build, the same cry baby's that file lawsuits and tie up taxpayers moneys in court will be there, taking a shot on the blackjack table, having dinner at the buffet, or steak house, and crying that they " Want to get comped " I see it every day !!!! So, if you are someone who is against a casino because you don't " want it in your backyard " then I have a real easy solution for you...MOVE !!!!! Because of the LACK of development in this area, people are leaving by the thousands, so there are other places to go to !!! Leave !! We don't need or want your negativity !!! And lets face it, to all the casino opponents...let me let you in on a little secret, Bass Pro is not coming, and even if they did, they are not going to save this city !!!! Sorry to burst your bubble! Deal with it, move on, and if you don't want to move on, at least let the rest of us !!!!

why is it that this group of people are not opposed to the lottery? have you ever been in a store and saw the line of people and the amount of money they spend on trying to hit it big? not to mention that the things that are supposed to be done with the earnings from the lotteries never get done. knock it off and get a life, more important things at hand, what are you doing to try and bring our soldiers home from this non-sensical war? as long as you have so much time and money to fight a casino why not put it to good use?

I'm trying to see this both ways. Yes the casino would bring badly needed jobs, but on the other hand at what cost? Look at Casino Niagara for example. It's been going for quite awhile, yet the area around it still struggles. I can almost predict the same outcome for the Buffalo casino. The thing is the Seneca's will market and develop the casino so it is a ONE STOP deal. You'll eat, sleep and play there and the outside world will still stay pretty much the same. They have every right to do that, and unfortunately that's the catch to it all...Once you're in...you're in to stay...

Maybe the citizens of Niagara Falls need to watch how the local government spends the money given to the City of Niagara Falls by the casino. What development initiatives is it supporting? Any beautification programs going? They recently received about a million dollars. I know one million is a drop in the bucket for a city, but it is a start. Is there a watchdog group asking the government to report its spending habits?

Really, the casino is a One stop for all your entertainment needs, but again, why is it the Casino's responsibility to bring business to the area?. I mean, can't someone else figure out something else to put up besides the casino that may bring people to downtown? The Casino is just a start. Same for Niagara Falls. Why hasn't the city of NF done anything to bring people in to see the World Wonder, the FALLS??? The casino is just an extra thing to do when you come to visit.

He better have it move forward after all the work that has been done there to get it as far as it is. They should have never allowed building if the possibility of it not to go through was a consideration. Now the money and etc has been wasted if he halts the project. Morons and then there are people protesting it in the first place? why not weight it out, see what makes sense and then build? Since they a;ready have started i say go through with completeing it.

I find it amazing too that the Seneca's are able to build a casino, get thru all the red tape in such a short amount of time. Yet, when Buffalo tries to accomplish basically the same thing, such as Bass Pro, it's one hurdle after another...I agree that it's not the casino's responsibility to bring business to the area. It's just a part of the pie so to speak...

Can we PLEASE do anything in Buffalo without a legal challenge??? I don't need some "watchdog group" telling me about the "evils of gambling", I am a responsible adult and wish to make my own choices. As far as the people living near the Casino, why don't you clean up your own properties instead of complaining about new developemnt and waiting for someone to "save" your old building and "preserve" it. We have no shortage of old buildings in this city and I don't want my tax dollars saving any more of them. First we fight to get the Casino, then we tell the Senecas that they can't serve alcohol and food because it will put the downtown bars and restaurants out of business, then, when the Senecas decide to relocate the Casino to Cheektowaga, we take them to court again to force them to build it in Buffalo, then we take them to court not to build it. Quit wasting time and money and build it and quit forcing your morality on other people. If you don't want to go into the Casino, DON'T! As far as development in Niagara Falls, the Senecas have been giving the City of Niagara Falls between 9 and 10 million dollrs a year as part of the original agreement. What is the City of Niagara Falls doing with the money? Obviously not spending on paving their streets or tearing down dilapidated old eyesores. Niagara Falls NY is an embarassment. The only development going on in Niagara Falls is what the Senecas are doing, where's everyone else? Do you expect the Senecas to find private developers too? Let's try to be a little more progressive in Buffalo instead of wasting money on court challenges...PLEASE!

Haven't we wasted enough time and money "studying" the waterfront. While Buffalo has been "studying" (wasting time and money), other cities like Cleveland (The Flats), Toronto, Baltimore (the Inner Harbor), and Pittsburgh have passed us by. People want to be entertained and shop. It's nice that we have a "historic" waterfront replica but you need more to get people down there and keep them there. The Casino is only part of it, JUST DO IT ALREADY!!!

Seems like this issue should be straight forward. If a native or native-owned entity buys property, does that property become a part of the reservation lands that were originally deeded by the federal government?

I want the casino done so the Senecas can get on with building the new Peace Bridge.

It's all about funding source. The Senecas are paying all from their own pocket. Bass Pro and the like require goverment and state dollars as incentives. BIG difference.
